blankplate Added a reply to Public employee unions

I thought the same thing before I started working for this particular city, which is also in a right to work state. I've never been a big proponent of unions before and still feel that way ( I had to hold my nose when I signed). But I was pleasantly surprised by this one. I sat in on a contract...

Being part of a union and going on strike are 2 different things. I am part of my local fire fighter's union but we are not allowed to strike. The union is there to negotiate contracts with the city and to make sure the rules of that contract are being followed. I do believe public employees should not be allowed...
'94 KX125 at Lake Whitney. Crashed out in the first turn (common occurence for me). Picked up the bike and noticed tranny oil all over the ground. Got it back to the pits and noticed a hole the size of a nickle in my primary case. Get it home to tear it down and turns out the screw on the...

Actually it's a '98 model and has that back bone thing. It definitely doesn't look right for my son. Anybody know how to set it up and what the proper sag is?

My son and I have been waiting for it to stop raining for over a month. But when you live in Texas in the springtime, it's just part of the deal. Finally, we saw a seven-day forecast with no rain. We rushed to get our bikes back together and started picking out our favorite track. We finally agreed on a...

I had my company issued notebook computer stolen out of my office last night along with a digital camera. My IT guy says it has Computrace on it. Question is: Aren't they useless if you cant log into it plus it can be tracked by the wireless card? Or are they pretty easy to wipe out the hardrive and start...

Any of you guys dealt with your kids constantly lying. My son (9yrs) has all of a sudden started lying quite a bit. He keeps missing going riding with me because he's constantly in trouble for lying. The latest episode cost me a $200 doctor visit and 2 days work because he was faking being sick to get out of...

My daughter's running coach (cross country) has them soak their legs in an ice bath right after running. They soak for 10 minutes. He says it not only helps with any swelling that might occur but says after time it will "bust the capillaries" and increase blood flow to the legs. Which got me thinking, would this work for arm-pump...

....Police and Fire. 30 minutes ago, I was pulling out of my work and witnessed a pretty nast rear-end collision. I pulled over and checked on the drivers; one was OK and the other was injured. I call 911, tell them what happened and wait for them to arrive. Meanwhile, an off duty fireman stops and he immediately starts working...

I was at Greenville getting ready for my first race in the A class. There was a tabletop-single out of a corner that you could double. There was also this really hot chick that was standing right beside it watching, who I hoped, was her "brother". I had always made the double before but this time I planned to throw...

You missed every prom because it always landed on the same as the Dallas Supercross. Instead of a senior ring, you spent the money on a pair of boots You have top-end parts in your nightstand. You ranked your girlfriends by how well they can clean goggles and reload tear-offs...then you married the best one. You use your wife's new...

The devil will be in the details. Not one person here knows what all is in this bill. We just get little snippets here and there. All you who are happy with a change just for the sake of change, pay attention; the next few years will be real interesting.

Like it or not, insurance is a business and they have to make a profit. Dont get me wrong, I dont believe insurance companies are all saints but they are a for-profit business and if the govt. dictates a substancially lower oprating costs, then the buck gets passed to the consumer, right?
