Taxes and mandated healthcare aren't even in the same boat as each other....apples, to potatos comparison....

If you don't work you will get your mandatory health insurance for free.

Great country aint it?

Are you forced to pay extra so others get to wear a helmet too?

Okay, so where does it end? So far we are feed, housing, transporting, and now medicating people. Whats next? Television, DirectTV and iPhone allowance? Car payments subsidized? Not trying to be an ass OF, just wonder when does it become time for people to take care of themselves and pay their own way?
They are getting free phones, with free international minutes to "Call Home"

I agree, survive or die. It works in the woods.

Our fedex guy has been talking about giving out phones for the past year. He had 55 stops one day just for free phones. He was pissed.

no...people without insurance can be turned away or required to pay some portion up front for non emergency care.

But to your point, a great deal is absorbed by the hospitals...no arguing that.

Think how many people go to the ER or doctor and don't have insurance but are not turned away. They turn into huge medical bills that they just simply cannot pay and there credit get's ruined and may be forced into Bankruptcy. I think paying a $500 or $600 is much cheaper than tens of thousands in medical bills plus you would think it would cut down on costs for the rest of us since there is not so much bad debt that the insurance companies have to write off. Time will tell if this is a good decision but I think it was time for change. Healthcare has been about the same for quite some time and there are some serious flaws in our current system and this new healthcare bill seems to address some of those flaws.

To be honest, I don't think anybody really knows the full impact it will have. It's just a bunch of bickering and speculation. I'm just amazed that something actually got accomplished in DC. That's quite an accomplishment in itself. Now let's move on to cleaning up the air, immigration issues, and fair tax. Smile

Off topic: My Dad and Mom just went to Egypt for couple weeks and he said the pollution was so bad-the buildings are just black everywhere. There is no regulation. Said smog was so bad it was tough to even see half mile ahead and enjoy the scenery. Said it was amazing to see the history though. Oh, and they had armed guards with AK-47's on the tour bus and armed guards following behind the tour bus.

Think long and hard about it ( if you're able to) and get back to us. What do businesses usually do when their costs go up?

They aren't required to pay for it, just offer it.

Or be taxed?

My oldest daughter will be joining up on my insurance. Thank you! I now have $4,500 for my clunker. 8 G's for a house, extending unemployment benefits and health care!!! I love it. And the best part is that Obama isn't going to raise any taxes on the middle class to pay back all this money. Any word on a jobs creation bill? Nevermind, we don't need jobs.

I can't seem to find anything concrete, but the way I interpret the bill is they have to offer it to their employees.

Whether that means at 100% cost to the employee I don't know.

Sounds like in a few years the government will give me some money to pay for healthcare, and then I will pay the government back twice as much trough taxes.

But hey I will have some sort of healthcare.

The devil will be in the details. Not one person here knows what all is in this bill. We just get little snippets here and there. All you who are happy with a change just for the sake of change, pay attention; the next few years will be real interesting.
