Look through this whole thread. With the exception of soft chain sliders, the KX450s have been bulletproof since at least 2019.

Plastics and some metal components look worn faster than other bikes. Plastics are a cheap/easy fix. The bolts you have to be a little more careful with but they all seem to be going downhill.

1/6/2023 10:36am Thanks. I'm just concerned about reliability and durability. My YZ has been basically bulletproof.

If you want a 450 it is hard to pass up at that price and it handles well and has a good but not overpowering engine. It has pretty good ergos too.

1/6/2023 9:29am Thanks. You just saved me $1,000 if I decide to buy a green bike. I've never had one but very tempted now. Appreciate the information.

If you are willing to drive to the north side of Indy you can probably knock $1k off that. Westfield powersports has one listed at $7200 + fees which are about $1k plus sales tax. You might hit up the dealer in Linton too. His brother is on here sometimes.

1/5/2023 12:18pm I was just quoted 9600 out the door for a new 2023 KX 450. At that price I might be buying my first green bike.

11/1/2022 5:54pm I tore up my left knee playing basketball for the Air Force... a long time ago.. I really think my right hip was affected by favoring my knee all those years. I developed osteoarthritis.. basically wore it out. My left hip is ready now, as well. Getting old is getting old already. Just thankful for modern technology and joint replacement...

They're a good supporter of the site and had questions, so I get it. If there's concerns over wether what I'm doing or not is good for their brand...then they'd want to discuss. It was overall a very productive conversation. There was some criticism of how I do things. Some I didn't agree with and some things they had solid points on. At the end of it I didn't agree to change anything I do in terms of what I will post or talk about, most of it was around improved communication. And as I state on here over and...

10/31/2022 2:46pm I've had a right hip and a left knee replacement. Both done in 2019. I've had no issues that keep me off the bike. Just do your therapy and things will be fine. I didn't get the replacements to keep me from doing any activities, but rather to make life more comfortable and to be able to continue doing anything...
