Maybe A.J. can tell us more about the bike.

I don't think it's a 450X airbox. It's a special box that AJ fabricates, that uses a CR250R filter. The side door is nice just to make sure the filter is fit over the flange nice and tight.

Are you sure? On my 2010 I use a 2001 CR500 filter. It seems to fit .

I put CR250R filters in mine - I have an '03 and a '08 and the filters interchange. Maybe the 500 filter is the same? Or maybe I'm using the wrong ones but they just happen to fit. That's one of the little challenges owning an AF, there are quite a few parts that are slightly modified and you can't always assume a CRF250R or CR250R or ?? part will fit. Of course, if you call Service Honda and tell 'em what you have, they'll ship the right stuff every time, in my experience.

Yeah I seem to remember Maddo rocking that thing 300ft plus.....twice in about 10 minutes and no frame issues.

Weak sauce there scooter.........very weak.
While my RK "thoughts" were tongue in cheek, I'll stand by my comments. While the SH bikes are good looking, I've seen some of their work up close. Lets just say I was underwhelmed. Having said that, kudos to anyone who keeps the 2-stroke, and especially the 500, alive. Well, except that meathead in Toledo.

Not one two stroke fanatic is excited about it. Now that's a surprise.

Tiki: you must have missed when A.J. posted pics of his 2011 model. I was sure some of the guys on Vital were going to share a bottle of wine and a warm shower with him over those.

Probably got like that from all those hours strapped up to the inside of a van travelling across the country from fairground to fairground

Nice "Paul Mitchell" hair products sticker on the rear fender too, official sponsor for keeping the Mullet in shape Laughing

Fair enough but saying you are underwhelmed by their work is a far cry from your original post talking about how the bikes break apart so unless you can show some type of proof that this has happened with a Service Honda bike it is still a BS statement.

Do you have some specific knowledge of one of their frames breaking or do you have some other motivation for stirring that weak sauce?

Scooter's response is typical fare from cr500riders.com. I always assumed they were mad because AJ wouldn't divulge all of SH's trade secrets. They are a bitter bunch. I posted pictures of mine when I had it for sale over there and got lambasted over the welds in front of the foot pegs looking too good to be from SH.

As for the airbox, it's from a CRF250x and has a CR250 air boot and filter mount installed. They do use the CR250 air filter but it's probably the same as the 500. It makes air filter changes much easier as you can get in the boot and also change the filter with no tools. My 2009 is set up the same way and I'm fairly certain all the modern ones are the same.

I did see the pictures of the 2011 model. I want to know if I can mount the new subframe to mine and go with the 2011 look?

Be interesting to see what it goes for. I would think since he didn't jump it this would make it less collectable valuable?

Not a single one of you idiots wouldn't turn down what Robbie Kneivel does for a living so why you talk you shit about him is amazing. The guy jumps a motorcycle over what seems to be easy jumps for a couple hundred grand a year then jumps into his 80k rig and drives to the next jump and you guys want to down the guy, amazing.

95% of the posters on Vitalmx would complain about a wet dream.

Hey big guy, isn't that motor 2 strokes shy of the mark for you? On a side note, I ate breakfast at the Cracker Barrel in Chandler a month ago, as I was burnin' east on I-10 outa Cali. Thought to myself, Damnit, Jay lives around here and we could discuss all things moto over coffee. Alas, I didn't have a wireless laptop or a ph number to get ahold of you. Maybe next time.
