Agreed, let's have it 500guy. Where is the money that SPEED and CBS pay for TV rights? What about all the other companies with banners and hay-bale covers? The money is going somewhere but it's not to the riders.

It is the other way around....
Feld pays Speed & CBS to air Supercross and it is big money.
MX Sports also pays to have the nationals on TV.

It use to be a paying deal, numbers went down. Now we pay, we'd have to make numbers go up, as far as watching the show.

I don't know....
But a paying TV deal would be sweet. Smile

I read back in 2007 that Nascar was getting 3.7 billion or some crazy number like that for their TV rights (multi year deal) from 2007 - 2012.

That's what I was wondering. If the numbers don't go up how long will Feld and MXsports be willing to spend money on TV packages? I don't really expect answer here, just wondering out loud.

Its easily over a million. Think about it. Being a title sponsor gets your logo on everything! On TV they say the Monster Energy AMA blahblahblah over and over again. On race day how many times do you hear it over the PA? The vending area, the ability to be the only energy drink to give away product at a national plus clothing and posters. Being a title sponsor is a big deal and the energy drinks bid on it cause its the highest sponsorship in our series. Look at the MXDN at Colorado. Red Bull spent millions easily on that one!

I understand about the marketing and all the logo placements and pa spots, doesn't mean they are paying millions, all that I am saying.

This is still a guess.

Guess for us what the expenses were too or did your pal work for free and the Truck was free and the fuel too ?
and the tuff blocks banners they were free to right ?

I'm not saying money isn't being made, I'm just saying until we know how much lets not just try and make everyone believe what it is.

There was talk on here a few years ago from the person that puts the SX TV package together....
They were proposing to have a internet live video broadcast only, along with some type of TV on demand highlights of the races.

I would say it costs about $20k to be series sponsor.

I'm basing that on how much mileage the rock hard ride hard award gets and that costs $10k. Why would anyone pay $1m when all you have to do is put up $10k and get all of that publicity?

I hear ya. Point is that its not going in the riders pockets at all. $1500 to win a moto minus $500 pro license and $200 entry fee! That is not worth it at all. It makes me ashamed to be involved with a sport that pays the main attraction so little to risk their life's every time.

Someone call MXSports and tell them you need a quote to be a title sponsor for your new energy drink! lol Woohoo

I bet red bull could make some money selling hats, t shirts etc, but they want to give to their people free and not give the working class people a chance to purchase it! Hey I have an idea lets give our million dollar athletes free stuff and make it not available LOL!

Yeah no shit! Same with Alpinestar riding gear! I've been wanting a set of that gear forever now! Only way to get it is from Europe and its expensive! I just don't see the point in that.

If a rider makes the show and is ridin' a Kawi...

Well...

450 & 250 Class

1st/$10,000 2nd/$5,000 3rd/$2,500 4th/$1,500 5th/$1,200 6th/$1,000 7th/$1,000 8th/$1,000 9th/$1,000 10th/$1,000
11th/$500 12th/$500 13th/$500 14th/$500 15th/$500 16th/$250 17th/$250 18th/$250 19th/$250 20th/$250

Then there's Honda

450 MX $10,000 $5,000 $4,000 $2,000 $1,000 $900 $800 $750 $700 $650 (1st thru 10th)

250 MX $10,000 $4,000 $2,000 $1,000 $900 $800 $750 $700 $650 $600 (1st thru 10th)

Here's the thing: It's the PRO class...it ain't Charity.

I'm jus' sayin'...

There's a reason for that and you'll have to ask Parts Unlimited for the explanation...

Last price I heard for a small order quantity of polyethylene "repeater banners" was $800.00 per roll.

Prove it. Where's your source that says Speed/Feld/MXSports pays anyone anymore? Regurgitation of the same posts that have been around on here for a few years or something that has substance?

And where's Dave with the "how much profit is allowed for the promoter" and "where are your numbers" ?

It's not regurgitation DC has said on this forum that they pay for television. It's no big secret, it's a fact.

Do riders still get contingency payouts for like the clothes they wear or products on their bikes?

Just asking how long have you been into motocross? this is no way a dig but in the 70's and 80's there was no developmental class, you either raced 125, 250 or 500, also the mini classes. So where you get the idea it was supposed to be developmental was maybe how they fed it to us when they added 125's to the Supercross program, in the early 90's was it? I think it's fine the way it is, your choice of being a pro and racing the class you want. The only benefit I see on keeping the 250's separate coasts is more guys get factory backing rides, if they made it like the 450's then a shit load of guys will be out of rides, keep it the way it is and let them race what they want, period.

1980 was my first sanctioned race. Missed 86 to about 92 but have been up on things the rest of the nintees. Only spectate the last ten years and ride for fun. 125 outdoors in the nintees you got the boot after a couple number one plates. Lamson,(95,96), Henry (93 94), and RC (97 98 99). Something like that. West coast supercross 125 Damon Huffman could not defend his 94 title for Suzuki because he was in the class too many seasons. So things have changed I guess.
In Canada for what it is worth the 450 class pays considerable more. than the 250f class.
2 things.......125 SX was supposed to be a developmental class when it started in 1985.[guess that is what AX is for now]
Damon Huffman DID defend his 94 125 west SX title and won it again in 95...then was forced to move up to 250 class for 96 after 92,93,94,&95 [ 4 years ] in 125 sx class...Dizzy

Slightly off with my facts possibly but the bottom line is MX1 (450f) is the premiere class in moto whether it is in the stadium or on the outdoor tracks. This is why all the best riders are in the class. People can argue lap times untill there blue in the face but these kids got to man up and move up if they got the balls and ride the beast (450f). Mx1 should pay twice what mx2 does.

It is kind of crazy that the payout is close to any local bass fishing tournament. They just about pay out more on a weekly basis to anyone who wants to fish.
