hehe you cant tell it from the angle but his back tire was actually stuck in the rut/berm and the bike was pointed up hill, also you cant tell from the camera but thats a pretty steep bowl turn. i watched him doing a large burnout trying to get out of the rut while traffic was flying by - all that plus im sure a lil bit of what the f*uck just happened to me

GrapeApe, i believe you can run up to a 150 fourstroke. in schoolboy 2 you can run a 250f.

Oh, that sucks. Well, he has the speed, just needs to keep it on 2. :-)

If there was a 125 class for selected nationals, where the age group was 15-21 years old or something, that would be really cool. Something i'd consider for sure.

What next just for people under 5 foot 7. Run the class may the best man or teen or lady win.

Maybe they are afraid of it being a huge success? A stacked gate and a crowed going fucking ape-shit over screaming 125's would be a slap into the face to the "Big-4" and their investment into the thumpers.

Sounds closer to the truth than claiming there is not enough interest.

What interest do you think there is? Do you guys think the entire Loretta's Schoolboy class is going to follow the nationals around? Most of those families struggle to make it just to LL's once a year. A few who can afford it and want the exposure will travel, but otherwise it's gonna be some local B/C kids and a couple dudes who went out and bought 2-strokes like it was the last time they did a 2-stroke thing at the Red Bud national a few years ago. The most likely outcome is you'll get a half gate or less and 2 or 3 fast kids will destroy the field while the other guys just ride around. Hey, that kinda sounds like a WMA race.. well bring it on then!

Hmmm. Could be right, this was initially the problem with the 2-stroke WCs, but now it's going good. Like I said before, It will be harder to get it going, but once it is, more sponsors will come. There are several sponsors who already said they will support it, including but not limited to FMF. The key is promotion and a lot of coordination between sponsors, track owners, and committed riders.

And that's a good logical approach. The 2-stroke movement is still overall not that big, so keep it what is really is and that's grassroots. Making local series that everyone can ride will do far more to advance the cause than to make a silly sideshow at a few nationals. The idea is to get people to buy and ride 2-strokes, not watch others do it for you. This get 2-strokes at the nationals or in 250 mag shootouts is all fluff and silly, get people excited about riding them by giving them a reason to.

With the rediculous costs of campaigning a 250F for 12 rounds of the outdoor nationals up against the likes of Pro-Circuit you don't think a 6 round 125cc (or 150) Outdoor National Championship would work? If it happened and people actually see it take place, the following year would be even better. Six rounds, alternating weekends with the womens races would give families more time to recover, prep and get ready for the next race.

I'm certainly not saying it can't be pulled together and run out there, but I think reality would be a pretty bitter pill compared to the dream, which is a full gate of pro quality 125 riders going at it like the good old days. Let's assume you get 15 to 25 kids out there for a 5 or 6 lap race. It gets all spread out and after the novelty of the sound wears off what's left? A poor race that people don't really care about.

I'm simply saying those efforts would be better focused on a series dedicated to 2-strokes someplace besides the high desert of Cali. Look at how much interest and exposure that single race got on here. If you pulled together a series that visited easier to travel to locations I don't think it would be difficult to make it popular.

Wasn't there a four-stroke national that ran for a very long time? (before the yz400f)

Schoolboy 1 is a 125cc 2T, 150 4T only mod class. No 1502T in that class. Schoolboy 2 allows up to 250 cc two and 4 strokes except at Loretta's. Lorettas has a supplemental rule that restricts Schoolboy 2 to 150cc 2 strokes and 250cc four strokes. All of the A,B,C classes are just cc limits in AMA Amateur racing with no advantage for 2T/4T.

Exactly.
Why does it have to happen the same day as the Nationals? Why do people request other people do this for them? Why not get a group together and form a 2-stroke national series, those that want this so badly? If the interest is there, you'll have a hit that could show how wrong the industry is about the 2-stroke being dead. You could actually make it regional so it is less costly to racers. 2-strokes East and 2-strokes West, or go North and South as well. Then you can run a full compliment of classes 125, 250, Open if you want. This is how we got a motocross and SX series, someone took the bull by the horns and did it. So....do it! The interest comes first, then the manufacturers and sponsors will be on board if it is there. There are plenty of tracks that would like a national type event who can't break into the national schedule right now.

LIke i said before with out real money and support don't expect any 125 nuthin at any national event. It's not what OEM's wish to promote and market. Hence it's a lose lose .

Just leave us know nothings in the amatuer level to race ride and enjoy our smokers and freedom from the kazillion moving parts.

The big boys have enough of the pie. Allow some of the local small guys to have less exspensive racing and keep it local.

PS> When you talk "BIG 4"....... KTM is either 3rd or 4th. So please note that the "BIG 4" already has lost out to one 2 stroke manufacturer maybe more to come?

ANd as far as HONDA being such a dedicated 4 stroke company................I call that bullshit. They are only "green" when it comes to us dirt bike guys................ guess in go karts smokers are A-ok!

keep drinkin the koolaide boys, them there red helicopters gotcha covered.

if they ran that at Freestone, it would be a reason for me to go back this year (last year was the first one I've missed there--but there were extenuating circumstances).

It sounds like a poll would be good at this point just to verify the interest.

Funny shit, they are so concerned about being "greed" that they'll only sell the kart engine in kit form, not as a complete engine.

"Registered kart racers may now purchase a CR125 engine ‘kit’, containing all of the required parts to assemble a complete engine. The engine kit will include a six-speed transmission for the appropriate model, with ‘top-end’ parts available for 1999-2002 engines, the most popular for karting applications"

Oh shit, I misspelled "green".....or did I? Guessing they couldn't convert the karters as easily as the dirt bike sheep.
