Does he get ClubMX their first win? Do you consider him a championship contender?

No and no.
I just can’t see it all coming together at this point.

He could win, and he could finish 20th. Would it be fair to say Max is incredibly inconsistent, with flashes of greatness as well as far less than expected results?

And ya gotta wonder how bad he wants it. Hes 31/32 racing a bunch of kids 10+ years younger that are trying to make their mark.

I think it will be a very mediocre year. I could even see a scenario where he finishes without a single podium.

That's what I'm thinking too.

He will be 34 at the end of April.

Okay, I didn’t want to muddy the waters with my opinion in the first post but I’m right there with you guys. Part of me wonders if he’ll even make it to every race.

Dude I have NO clue. I wouldn't be surprised if he's a title contender. Also wouldn't be surprised if he just straight up misses 3 mains.

I’d guess that he “wants it” really bad, but he just doesn’t seem to be able put together a positive string of performances.  That is what’s missing.

He’s usually a podium threat, but not consistently a podium finisher.

Win, Podium, DNF, Podium, Injury - hopefully back for SMX

Throughout his career, the only thing that's been consistent is his inconsistency. Hate to say it but it'll be more of the same.

He can probably be a podium guy depending on where certain Hotshoes land coast wise. But like a couple of you've said, I don't see him making it through the season. He's been dirt sampling a lot more frequently again.

I’m sure he’s happy to race and get paid and wants to do well but at 34 he’s not going to be at the sharp end very often.

Heck yeah!  Max is a success, making a living doing what he dreamed of doing as a kid and even supporting his family doing it. Not many accomplish that.

I wish him well and for…shorter podium speeches, lol!

He should have been on a 450 last year and 2027.

He could win a race, the championship is a long shot.  He could also win a race and have multiple other horrible races.

He's fast and has won before, and is still on a Yamaha.  He's also been inconsistent and is another year older and the one undefeated competitor is father time.

I had high expectations for him this year; now I know better. I just hope he enjoys himself.

Firepower Honda was his absolute peak, and I say this as a huge fan. Nothing about the current Yamaha, or ClubMX's facilities and training have improved his results - and if I'm being perfectly honest, I believe he has gone backwards.

Let us not forget that Max's most recent win was A1 of 2026 and his first AMA pro race was GH of 2009, that is quite a gap.

I just feel ever since deegs took him out in the turn last year, it completely derailed him. He looked great, went down, and never looked the same since

Cringe lord broke max last yr in sx.... he's been pulling a "tomac post broken tooth" ever since...

So ya, I expect for him to be a solid 10th place guy going forward...

Id go as far as saying there could be a mid season split. It would be on par for one of Lewis's "guys". In all reality though, from what we have seen, he doesn't look great or gelling yet...

No and no. The young guns will kick his ass. He can't run their pace for an entire main anymore. Jmo.

I like Max so I mean this in the best way possible.

I want to see what he can do in a season where he’s not just waiting on WSX to start.

Is it rude to call him a modern-day Martin Davalos?

Davies could literally go undefeated on one coast, plus Hammaker, Kitchen, Shimoda, Beaumer, Ryder D, McAdoo? and the rest. I see 0 wins in 2027 for Max.
