I work in the concrete industry, I can’t stand it when people call it cement. Cement is a constituent of producing Concrete, just like rock, sand and water. It’s the long offseason, what are some common misconceptions people have that grind your gears?

when did Concrete find it's way into the frozen custard at Culvers and Freddys?

I'm not in the industry, and I'm also not very smart, but I always thought that it was cement when it was wet, and concrete after it set?

Which leads to the term, toilet paper.

The concept of toilet paper has ancient roots, with paper used for hygiene in China as early as the 6th century AD and mass-produced specifically for toilet use by the 14th century. However, modern toilet paper as a commercial product began in 1857, when Joseph Gayetty of New York introduced "Gayetty's Medicated Paper for the Water-Closet," sold in flat sheets of 500, each watermarked with his name and medicated with aloe

And yet, the paper is not for the toilet.

The correct term for wet concrete is actually plastic concrete.

As the guy who actually makes the cement, I approve of this thread.

And FTR, asphalt bonded pavement is technically bituminous concrete...

I practiced structural engineering for over 20 years so I approve this message. But I rarely correct people when they misspeak 🙂 Stephen king is the worst violator of this btw 😉

I had a home owner , while going thru a walk-through on the wiring of his new home , he kept calling recessed cans ……  incest cans . I corrected him like 3 times and then I gave up. The guy was a doctor!😆

Technically, they're twist drills.

I used to jokingly refer to it as adding machine tape.  Nowadays the kids have no idea what an adding machine is or was..😎

Any machine that has an extending arm with a bucket on the end is a backhoe!

Oh! OH! OH!

I have one that I just despise.......

"Freestyle Motocross"

HATE IT! HATE IT! HATE IT!

Joey, did you forget spade bits?

And agree on the Backhoe and excavator post. Add to those the idiots in the media that will post a picture of either of those or any other piece of construction equipment, (including a bobcat) and call it a "dozer" or "bulldozer"......

Considering how different Type H is for manufacturing, testing, and how it gets mixed and pumped downhole I can allow this.

Not quite the same as a regular Portland cement concrete mix!

Agee 100%. Just wanted to mess with you construction guys a bit.  However, we did pump regular Portland cement (pseudo Class A) at very shallow depths without sand/gravel.  Carry on.
