If someone was talking about a new two stroke, and said "its a hell of a lot better than anything Honda makes", would you go grab the marketing page for the CRF450 and have the same argument?

Very clear that the statement was made about a particular segment of the market, and I believe thats the nuance you have missed.

The USA certainly exploits cheap labor; the cheap labor just isn't our own citizens or within our borders. Walmart shelves are full of shit made by cheap labor and it is the USA's largest retailer. Just like the USA's holier than thou environmental stances yet we buy shit from countries that pollute the shit out of the environment. The USA farms these third world countries.

Actually, well within your borders immigrants represent 40% of the agricultural workforce, 30% in the food industry (go check a meatpacking plant), 30% of construction workers, 30-40% of care workers.

And a whole other bunch in restaurants and hotels, to name a few sectors relying heavily on foreign workers. Not saying they're exploited per se but that's mostly cheap labor, like in most western countries, immigrants take a lot of the low paying jobs others don't want.

Interesting to read that from an Aussie perspective. Construction/trade jobs, jobs in mining etc are highly sought after high paid jobs in Australia. We have far less immigrants though, although recent governments have been letting more in.

I guess the highly sought after construction jobs are not those the guys waiting at Home Depot parking lot for someone to pick them up end up getting for the day?

Are you an Aussie, or are you saying Beagle is?

By the way, it's said that over 30% of Australia's populace  were born overseas, nowadays.

I do a couple of days a week at Sydney Uni, and  that's reflected in the students I work with.

And, of course, the Education 'Industry; is our 4th largest here in OZ - in some of , well most of , of my work there, overseas students are the majority , by far. Fair enough, as they are paying for it. But, I wish that money earned, was going towards keeping OZ students fees lower, and it Not (seemingly) going to some of the mindboggling amounts paid to Chancellors and such.

We've plenty of immigrants. And, ever increasing 'unease' attached to it. And, the inevitable arseholes capitalizing on that.

When I was a kid Grandpa called that opportunity not exploitation. Or sometimes "A foot in the door"

Back on topic, Gatedrop just posted an interesting interview with the boss of ZXmoto.

He's nothing if not ambitious...

I think ZX, Kove and ?JHL will add some interest to GPs next year - and they'll be noticeably more competitive by seasons end.

Alta didn't go bust they were literally bought for IP then everything shelved. They were going places.. that's why someone bought them up

To be fair, HD really did them dirty by doing that....however, Alta had put themselves in a position to be desperate for suitors like Harley by fiscal mismanagement, including massive salaries and setting up in the Bay Area, from what I understand.  Usually when stuff like that happens, it's the result of a long string of bad decisions that finally add up to catastrophe....

I like the built in grab handles, in my opinion every bike should have these! Using the fenders to pickup the bike after a muddy race is annoying...

That's actually really common for startups to not make money right away.  Uber wasn't profitable for 14 years.

The partnership with HD offered Alta a path to ramp production more quickly, not a buy out because of irresponsible spending.

They were hurting for money after HD pull shenanigans, knowing Alta invested a great deal planning on a big return, and that's what led to the sale.

Atleast that's the published story.
