His stats are some of the best we have ever seen, but to say no one would beat him, I’ll give you this.

In 2011/2012 Chad got the better of RV many times even outdoors, and probably wins that title straight up if the Chadapault didn’t happen (if my aunt had balls.. I get it)

Now Chad never had anything for RC outdoors, he was better than everyone except often KW, but usually not in the same zip code as RC.

If 8 years later Reedy has the speed to straight up beat RV at times, I have no hesitation in saying RC still dominates if you put him in a time capsule.

Not rhetorical, but when did reed catch and pass rv straight up outdoors

Millville 2011 2nd moto, right before the "Chadapult" crash. No doubt CR22 would have won that Championship had he not gotten hurt.

RV is all-time great, but even with all his titles he was never RC or Jett dominant.

RV never lost a 450 motocross title, Jett just got done losing one.

RV's first full 450 season. And past prime Reed? He was 29 and riding out of his mind

Yup Jett lost. Lost on one leg and still almost pulled it off. Still has the same amount of 450 mx titles as RV and way more overalls

That TGO season is on YouTube.. it’s overlooked because Reed had the crash at Millville and was never the same after, but before that he was hauling the mail and had them all covered..

The point of all this is not that Chad is better than RV, it’s that RC was in a different zip code with Reedy outdoors, so if CR22 can beat RV straight up.. then RC STILL lays the wood to them all..

I think his only real "peak" year outdoors on a 450 was 2013. He absolutely schooled Dungey that year, which is difficult to do. His 2012 and 2014 SX seasons were also insanely impressive. His dominance in SX is up there with the best ever, but he didn't do it for as long as McGrath. But, from 2011 SX to 2014 SX, he won every championship he didn't miss due to injury. That is an insane run. The only other racer to ever have that level of dominance across both disciplines was RC.

That is completely true but in 2012 SX, Chad had RV covered on speed until (correct me if I’m wrong) Houston?Gotta be in it to win...

Gotta be in it to win it I know, and not saying Chad had a shot at the title, but it’s not like RV was untouchable.

He was the best over the series and a deserving champion, but I think it’s easy to see the stats on paper and forget the individual races.

Chad was on one at the start of that season. I do recall them being essentially even in speed to start the year. RV said they were both riding so fast that season that it was unsustainable - he felt that one of them was going to go down hard. Chad was behind RV and trying to catch/pass him when the horrible crash occurred. I still think he was a bit more on the edge than RV was.

RV definitely wasn't absolutely untouchable. There were some nights where Dunge was a bit better (Minneapolis 2012 comes to mind), and Stew had some nights where he went god mode and couldn't be touched.

Absolutely he was, but can you really say that was a better version of Chad than in '09 on the Suzuki?

Past prime doesn't mean "washed", just not at his peak powers.

The only year  Reed or James ever finished ahead of RV in any championshi was 2009 when he entered his rookie season late due to injury. Neither of them ever beat him again. Not once. When RC left, they were supposed to dominate everything.  But Ryan ended any shot they had at ever winning another championship.

Reed was 27 and James was 24 in RVs rookie year. Both in their primes.

His record of championships is the only one comparable to RC. He won every 450 championship he ever completed except one. And he even won one that he didn't complete.

Complete and total domination. Chad and James had nothing for him.

Again not that it means much but it was the first lap and Reed had just gotten into the lead RV and Dunge were right behind him.. I'd love to know what they were thinking after they saw it..

Yall are talking about Chad keeping up with RV for a few races when RV beat him year after year. Its not even close. He was not as good as Ryan.

I saw it click for him against James in Vegas. James was winning the championship but Villo uncorked something that race (Kinda like Deegs at Shougal on tge 250). James tried to latch on and almost ate shit trying a tricky quad and then decided to back it down because RV had those legs squeezing that back wheel carving away from him. He was better sx rider than RC I think, but RC was unstoppable AND unbreakable with his get offs. RV a little more Fragile... when he went down...thats the biggest difference imo.

Rv is the only rider to beat JS more often than not when both finish without crashing.

RC’s ability to absolutely wad his shit and still get up to continue racing was something we’ve never seen before or since.
