SMX Media Dresscode

I get the feeling that SMX is putting the squeeze on the smaller media people, particularly the Youtubers.  Which I will admit I watched a lot more SMX content on Youtube then I did on Peacock.

No, I read it more as, dress professional. Don't look like you were just hanging out at 7/11.

They'll still be wearing black jeans, black tee's, and black flat brimmed hats.

This makes sense to me.  This eliminates the issue of brands being advertised that are not sponsors and will make the presentation cleaner.  It's not different than requiring mechanics to wear pants.

it's okay, the media can just use the same outfit for their second job at Olive Garden, which they will need with the new guidelines.

How are they different than before when it comes to making money?

AMA used to have a rule that all team personnel had to wear collared shirts. Is that still a thing?

No hats?! D'oh!

This is a thing for folks trudging around an outdoors track in the middle of the summer. Hats are to protect head, neck and shoulders from the sun, strategically they manage troublesome light behind the camera and they absorb sweat.

Hopefully a sweatband is OK. Maybe a sweatband with a bill?

I think this mainly target those trackside with hats meant to stand out on TV, understandably kinda cheezy. I can understand that, it's a distraction folks didn't tune in to see. But nothing at all? Maybe a plain white billed cap?

Where does it say no hats?

It doesn't. The guy clearly didn't read the OP's post, because he yammered on about outdoors when the post says Pro Motocross guidelines will be announced later in the year.

The whole thread is for nothing, though, since ML said this has been a rule for a few years now.

hmmm....i guess they forget this is DIRT BIIKE racing. why don't they ever address the real issues like revenue sharing with the teams/riders and shortening the season a bit?

the dress code takes care of itself when the money is shared appropriately

You are correct, I incorrectly read the circled note. It's not "no hats", it's "no hats with inappropriate titty logos, etc". Pls forgive my yammering.
