Only $10 for all 2026 SX, MX, and SMX series.
No. SMX was the idea of NBC and required for the TV contract.
What a crazy ass year it has been..
The FIM isn't going to let the world championship moniker sit idle for long. Someone will pay the fee and start a new world supercross championship, just like SX Global did after Feld punted the FIM. Maybe Infront, which would potentially pose a much bigger threat.
So does Rick Ware racing still pay a significant portion of Ansties salary at ClubMx with nothing in return now?
The Shop
Luxon 4-Post Bar Mounts
$189.95 - $239.95
DeCal Works Huge Plastic Inventory of UFO and Polisport kits.
World Supercross of Nations? maybe we could actually win and Americans would want to race it
💀
Threat of what exactly?
cough....cough.....TRANS-USA/TRANS-AMA.....make it happen....fall mx rocks
F*#king Friese!!
He t-boned a whole series!! Can we all agree this is his fault!?
Can you link the article that talks about them paying to be a team?
https://motocrossactionmag.com/four-teams-announced-to-compete-in-the-fim-world-supercross-championship/
Here is a link that talks about a 50 Million budget during start up to pay riders and teams. How would it make sense to say pay me a million for startup and then we will pay you per round. No teams would do that as they wouldn't make their money back.
Finally a series Sexton could finish.
Now kill SMX and just pay the riders more money throughout the regular season. Give them a break and let them enjoy life
Very sad news. Guys like Anstie have based their team signings around it.
I thought this series had Saudi oil money backing?
That’s exactly what SMX was, so now kill it because it’s stupid
This is what I remembered also
A well organized FIM supercross world championship that gives MXGP riders a reason to stay with their European teams and potentially drains assets from the US series'.
Without the SMX finals they don't get the big NBC money and the purses go back to previous levels.
Pit Row
Queue Feld announcing a SMX round overseas next September!
I'm betting Principality stadium in Cardiff, UK as it doesn't host a soccer team and already hosted Monster Jam.
They don't need WSX to fold to hold races overseas
You people really disappoint me. I came here to see all the Cooper Webb world champion ai pics!
So can the AMA call themselves the AMA World Supercross Championship series again? Since its self proclaimed anyways.
Infront wasn't interested 4 years ago, why would they be now?
There might be a few things you aren't getting...
From the MXA article:
A model unprecedented in supercross yet utilized amongst the majority of thriving sports leagues and motorsports series around the world, WSX features an exclusive team ownership structure that allows each team to increase its value over time, while also enabling a host of commercial opportunities on global and regional levels for international and local events. This unique model, combined with SX Global’s allocation of $50 million specifically for team and rider support over the Championship’s first five years, has driven widespread interest for the coveted 10-team allotment, as evidenced by more than 40 ownership applications submitted from suitors across the globe.
Because they're sick of their world championship being a feeder system for the US national series'?
I don't think they'll do it but if they want to stem the tide they might want to consider it.
Since when can a TV network demand an entire new race series for a TV deal?? Lmaoooo #notbuyingwhatfeldisshoveling
Anywhos... I really thought feld would cut the check.... run usa sx in the first part of yr, run the worldwide series the rest of the year... which btw to the above commenter, would yield a far bigger TV deal than stupidcross... guess they want a turnkey make money deal instead of investing and building a relatively new series up...
The Saudi money throwing has definitely tightened up over the past few years from their PIF. Look at LIV golf. They’ve shifted to 80% internal investment, 20% international. Used to be 30% international. Thats many, many billions removed out of the worldwide sports investment pockets… so it was only a matter of time (paired with real headwinds in international investment markets and bonds) for a series like WSX that relies on foreign investment to make it work.
What am I not getting? Where does it say they paid? They always wanted a limited amount of teams. The topic in question is if those 10 teams paid to be one of the teams selected. All I see, even in your quote, is where it says 50 millions for teams and rider payouts. Let me know what I missed. Maybe I’m wrong but your quote doesn’t even remotely prove the teams paid.
Mubadala is the sovereign wealth fund for Abu Dhabi, no Saudi involvement. Also, they pulled their investment and haven't been involved in a couple of years.
"...pay me a million for startup..."
I don't think the intent was to pay anyone a sum for a team "to get started".
I believe the "support" they're alluding to is for certain expenses like shipping and team/rider payouts thru-out the season(s).
Oh...and...
How much of that $50 Million ever existed and/or where it went...? That's another question.
