Team Great Britain

Are there enough Brits in here to make our own thread about our team work?
Sometimes it can get it a bit sparse amongst the general discussion.

I’m out today and can’t watch, but I’ve just seen Hannal scored a 9th! Which is a blinding result!

If you can, could you keep me updated here on the other races?

Watson 10th, Team GB go to the line tomorrow in 10th.

Hammal was impressive. Watson was riding well to, but crashed (taken out?) early.

I think the team will fare better than most expect. 9-12?

Somewhat unrelated to MXDN, but I'm really cheering for GB to return to producing some MXGP champion caliber riders.

Hammal was as much impressive as he was in Foxhill a few months ago. What a ride!

Never heard of Hammal or Mustoe. But live in the US.  Are they in UK or GP series?

I seen Askew in GPs... why isn't he racing?

Both in the UK series.
Both of them finished 4th overall in their respective classes in our national championship.

I’m a big fan of Hammal- I used to race with his dad Chris when we were youths, many years ago.

Criteria to be selected for Team GB was a strong performance in the MXGP or MX2 classes at British GP at Foxhills. Think Billy has been concentrating on the EMX class?

I think that was a mistake of Chamberlain to do that personally.

I disagree, I think it’s the right methodology. Realistically, we have such a strong crop of MX2 riders all on a similar level, it’s the best way to split them in my opinion. I believe in Mustoe and I think he’ll get the job done tomorrow

So pleased to see the boys doing well.

All 3 are humble and WANT to be there.

Hammal's ride in quali was outstanding. Hope he can repeat it tomorrow.

Please don’t take my comment as a slight on Mustoe.

But I do think Heyman would’ve been a better choice.

I am still right behind Mustoe.

Would’ve been cool to see GB do a throwback team of Anstie, Searle, and DeanO.

Does that seem crazy to you because it does to me? Unless Mark Chamberlain knew that Mewse would turn it down.

Mustoe has done a couple of GP's and been ok, knows what to expect , and apart from a mid season injury , has had a good year , winning his first MX2 round... Heyman has been good at home, but hasnt done enough outside of the UK, to know where he is at.

Also had an off at Blaxhall, so might not have been 100%.

But the team was decided before Heyman had his off last weekend.

We do know that he’s been consistently better than Mustoe. There’s no reason to think he wouldn’t be tomorrow either.

But hey, no way I’m here to bash the boys. No way!

I was told that neither Mewse nor Heyman was asked, i have no idea what the reasons for that are, if that was the case.

Anyway, the boys did good, 2 good rides from Watson and Hammal, and one from Mustoe, we should be top 10.

Looking forward to race day

Sounds like brown envelopes to me.

Hopefully Team GB can come away with a top 10, big ask with stacked fields tomorrow.

A solid 7th is  a great result for our efforts.

9 finishes over the 2 days , Hammal's  qualy race from the back was class, Ben Watson carried the guys, as he should have, props for the decision to give him the gate pick , and respect for the guys battling it out from the worse gate.

10th in MX2 For Mustoe , and 5th Watson .   I think the track being less rutted today didnt help us , but happy with the day.

As for Belgium, they stayed solid when France cracked under pressure of the home crowd, Spain with Fernandez , and Netherlands with KdW would have been epic.

Props to Garcia, the guy isnt even  a GP rider yet, and rode a 450 against the best there is, he cannot be faulted .

As for Lucas Coenen, i fear his injury will be a long term one that will stifle his ability to perform consistently , which is a massive blow.

I will call the 2027 team as Mewse, Watson and Askew.

Al 3 riders exceeded expectations and did their country proud.

Stand tall, guys.

I'm going to put a spanner in the works a bit and say the MX2 ride is wide open, little Bill has had a while to step forwards and it hasn't quite happened (although it clearly could) but behind him now there's Mustoe and young Bartlett coming who are just two among a pack of hungry pups...

I'd like to say I see some of Chris in Taylor, but the fact Taylor is 6ft something and Chris is absolutely tiny means the lad's mum must have some magic DNA in there somewhere. I'm only 5ft5 myself but Chris looked tiny even next to me, although it meant he always had lightning starts!! They're a cracking family though, thoroughly lovely people.

I think the depth of talent we have in MX2 is fantastic, next year we’ll have half a dozen fired up young lads fighting over one spot, which can only be a good thing. Richmond, Keith, Brookes, Heyman, Askew, Mustoe and Colmer (although I think he’ll move onto a 450 and never look back). My team prediction for next year would be Mewse, Heyman and Watson

Unless they do something stellar, Keith and Richmond are a bit too much of a punt, but they will get their chance in the coming years , almost certainly.

Your 250 guy wins it for you , every time, so you have to pick wisely.

I was just getting it out there early LOL.

And i am not saying 'they are my picks', just a punt for the sake of fun.

Assen is a different place to anywhere else.
