The problem is guys getting lapped trying to use the leaders to their advantage. Hill appeared to be doing the right thing pulling over to get out of Deegan’s way in moto 1. But then he latched on and used Deegan to try to sneak by Harrison (who he was struggling with as they had been battling for a while). Harrison saw what Hill was doing and dropped the hammer to stop him. The Hill/Harrison battle slowed Ken a bit. I blame Hill more than Harrison for that one.
Ken shouldn’t have been too mad about it though. Just before this happened a different lapper slowed Deegan up and allowed Ken to close in. After it was all over their gap was about the same. But it’s Ken, and he always has to blame someone or something else so he yelled at Harrison after the race when he really should have been yelling at Hill.
If this is a "playoff" then why not have only riders who finished in the top 10 this season? At least in a moto.

How many riders finished a race inside the top 10 in supercross? And motocross, for at least a moto?
Edit: 28 riders would have qualified for 450 SMX this year if a top 10 overall was required to qualify.

Harrison, Friese, Harlan, Tondell, Noren, and Hand would not have qualified if a top 10 was required.
The problem is Mx Sports and Feld need 40 entry fees, because realistically there should have been like 10 riders on 450’s. It’s like so many guys riding around for a paycheck in last.
250 wasn’t as bad. But 450 the talent drop off is INSANE after like p8
Harrison and Friese have been awful all year. At this round Justin Hill was in the way too.
I guess they really wanted that 19th place check, God forbid not a chance they were settling for 20th place!
The AMA needs to change the name of the blue flag. It should be the “Get the f*#k out of the race line and lappers no passing other lappers while being displayed” flag. I know….long name…deal with it. Then train flaggers not to put it out too soon. Penalize lappers that hold the race line while being displayed ….and if you take advantage to pass a felllow lapper in a blue flag section then a 2 position penalty.
…btw…first penalty for being in the race line a fine. Second a 1 race suspension, Third, 5 races. Fourth, season over. We would only see v.f. 4 races max. I’m a big supporter of privateers and satellite teams….until they impact the race up front. Start to cost them money and they will learn to gtfootw.
I do appreciate a few of the flaggers last night waving the blue flag directly in their faces. If they try to claim they didn't see those then they don't see well enough to be allowed on the track.
Same old story, though... some of the guys don't care and none of the potential punishments are enough to make them care. It's all just noise until the punishment has some teeth to it.
I like that. The points seeding is dumb. Something needs to change.
Like how Jett and Haiden can not race any 450 Supercross but still contend for 450 SMX title based off outdoors.
And then the opposite like Justin Hill, he only raced one motocross to qualify because he did well enough in Supercross to make the points.
It would also be interesting to see how a point reset (or lack of one) would have affected or not the SMX final positions?
For real the lappers treat blue as if it’s green flag.
and then after the race they say “I didn’t listen because the lap before they were waiving blue and the leaders weren’t coming”. That issue neeeds fixed …. or like Tomac said, stop making Supercross tracks under 50 seconds! Or eliminate bottom 5 at the finale next season. It should be elimination if we’re calling this wild card and playoffs

With the double and triple point rounds it doesn’t really matter how many points you come into the SMX PLAYOFFS with. Technically they do but like you mentioned it Regan didn’t even race SX and Kenny didn’t race outdoors and they both could have won it
I also think there should be a way to designate if the leaders are in a battle, and in that instance it's get off the track till they pass
Its almost like you need an age limit in the 250 class.
Harrison damn near cost Prado half a million bucks or more. This is how AP got out of the way in the same corner. Lost maybe half a second doing so.
The license points are not harsh enough.. friese was a pain in the ass all year and got no real punishment for it.
In the second moto, when he was between Prado and Deegan, it sure looked to me like the flagger tried to hit him with the flag. I really hope I wasn’t just seeing things, and that was actually the case.
