Only $10 for all 2026 SX, MX, and SMX series.
It’s a professional race series featuring the top riders, that gives it all the legitimacy it needs. Just because some of you (okay, most of you) don’t like the tracks, the points schedule, the time of year and the name doesn’t make it illegitimate.
I think what we’re really talking about is relevance. SMX is certainly less relevant than the long established championships, but if it continues to draw the same caliber of riders for the next 20 years, even that could change.
Anyone in this thread would love to have a SMX title. It’s a title because it’s its own series that co-opted a separate title for the series, but I would not count it in title counts like we traditionally count AMA titles. RC has 15 AMA titles, Jett has 5, not including his 3 SMX titles.
Remember though, the very first sx title was only 3 races long, the second was 4 or 5 races long and we still count those.
Reaching HARD
An SMX title is way below a SX and MX title but also way above MEC, RBSR or even WSX....an SMX championship should only be counted as just that an SMX championship and not included in the others for the record books.

Useless as titties on a Bull.
Playoffs.... that's such a mis-name.... so dumb
You play baseball and Football, hence they have 'playoffs'
You DON'T PLAY MOTOCROSS OR SUPERCROSS..
Call it something catchy AND fitting.. 'RACE-OFFs' jack-offs....
Like most sane people, Racer x state David Bailey is a 3 Time Champion.
250cc, 500cc and 250 sx. Nobody cares to reference his Grand National Championship.
Means absolutely nothing. It’d be a real shame if a rider suffered an injury that impacted their ability to prepare for A1.
I would bet the year after WSX collapses, SMX will evaporate, due to any reason other than themselves.
I’d rather them fold smx. Do 12 outdoors and increase the outdoors money. Make outdoors more professional, exc.
I’ll take that bet. 20 bucks?
Playoffs.... that's silly at best
.... such a blatant pandering...

All you need to know is Jett won the first 450 SMX title and he raced 250sx that year. The 450 SMX champ didnt even race the premier class in sx but can win the title? Gimmick. I'm glad the riders get a pay day and the fans that want it are getting extra races. I haven't watched anything but highlights. Outdoors is over, this doesn't move the needle for me. And its annoying to hear people count them as major titles. Deegan has 6 titles! He's got 2 National titles. Jett has 5 titles not 8
Clown series. Doesn't count in my book.
In 2026, there were 11 MX races, and 17 SX races. There are 3 SMX races. On its face SMX is 1/3 to 1/6 as important in picking a season long champion as the longer series. But the way the progressively increasing manner points are awarded, it’s even less important than that. You might say the first race is pretty much irrelevant to the outcome, due to low points, and the second race is about half as important as the last. As points go, it’s maybe at most a 2 race series, but heavily weighted to 1 race, the last. How can a championship of 2 races be taken seriously in comparison to an 11 race series, or a 17 race series?
Granted, it’s a great payday for the riders, which they deserve, and it’s 3 more race weekends to watch on the tube, which we fans enjoy, but it’s basically just hype.
Why would you not count it? Just because you guys like to complain about every little thing in moto, it’s still a title. A mud race is still a win. Any series where leading contender goes out by injury, the final champ doesn’t get an asterisk like you guys always say, they’re a champ straight up.
Idk why we have to try to discredit everything
Exactly, SMX was solely created to block WSX, just ask Hunter.
But it’s a World Championship……
Pit Row
About as legit as Lola’s tits.
I feel it's about on par with a 250E or 250W Supercross title. Important, but not a true, full-fledged National Championship. It's more important in some ways, but less important in others.
For the 250 guys, it's a better way to settle the score than E/W shootouts. For the 450s, it's maybe not that big a deal.
A combined SX and MX world championship where the top 4 guys include one that did no SX , one that did no MX , and one that got his ass beat by nearly 250 points. Not to legit.
It's a legit race, but it's along the same lines as Bercy, or MEC. The winner is legit, but it should not be listed as a championship.
I wouldn’t say “solely”, but the emergence of WSX certainly provided an impetus to make the SMX concept a reality.
The purse blows every series in the world completely out of the water. You guys complain about riders not being paid enough and when they finally do, you bitch about SMX not being legit.
It holds just as much weight as Heath Voss' 2004 FIM World Supercross Championship title. You know, the same year Chad Reed won the AMA Supercross title. Heath who?
Heath…you know Heather Voss’s bother? She was 🔥
I think it's mostly just the points set up that for me makes it a gimmicky.. more interesting? Sure
Like when Deegan won it in 2023 he only won 2 races that whole year, and this year we've got Prado maybe winning with the same stat not to mention if Ryder wins the 250's..
If they had the usual points set up it would be more legit
It’s like a triple crown Monster Cup
Just this -- Let SX and MX continue to be individual-rider focused, so we don't muddy title counts with a 3-race series trying to be counted as a championship.
