I'm thinking worst case scenario it's an option for Monster to step up to keep it afloat so Team Tedder can win the title.

Monster is already a series sponsor and they've done similar with the Xgames.

It's a very small and discreet sponsor.

Team Tedder doesn't race WSX

Oh shit you're right! Rick Ware Racing for Webb and Hill.

Do you think they have individual deals with Monster?

Monster is a smaller sponsor in wsx not a primary... and I don't see them catching all the teams up on their missing back pay... particularly those that aren't monster teams...

It sounds like if several of the teams didn't get their pay caught back up yesterday,  they were dropping out of the series... some teams just don't have the cash to keep going forward in the series without it....

Who's got a good contact w somebody on a wsx team??

Doesn't look like any Red Bull athletes attended round 1?  Maybe they make them all run the big M on their bikes for the series?  Monster must have atleast some interest considering they are already title sponsor of the AMA SX series but still wanted a piece of the action.

Sounds to me like the deal is probably dead in the water....current owners don't have the money to pay the teams and the potential buyers are not going to pay anyone before a deal closes.....I believe it's called an impasse....Looking more and more like WSX is cooked...

The FIM World Supercross Championship (WSX) and its promotional group, SX Global, have faced major financial and operational instability driven by shifting capital backing, delayed disbursements, and repeated ownership reorganizations.

SX Global initially launched with heavy financial backing intended to inject 10s of millions into appearance fees, freight support, and rich purses. When key capital partners and investors didn't follow through, the cash flow dried up.

Teams competing in the global series have repeatedly faced delayed operational and participation stipends, leading to tense standoffs where teams threatened to pull out of upcoming rounds if funds aren't wired.

The Logistical Burden:

Unlike the US racing series where infrastructure is localized, overseas and multi-continent WSX rounds require massive shipping and travel overhead that were to paid or reimbursed by the series. With payments lagging, teams could be carrying  an unsustainable debt load.

In other words, there as some truly shitty math happening and it hasn't worked from the start.  It was a dumpster fire anyway so no loss.

Who doesn't appreciate a good impasse.

I saw that post from Matthes….If true stick a fork in it…have they ever had a season that they haven’t canceled a race? I feel bad for the teams and riders…

That sucks to see... I actually liked the series, tame or not, still good to watch.

 Mission accomplished, Feld 👎

I'm glad Hunter said it out loud what the real reason for SMX was.

I’m not gonna lie I think the sport is actually better off if the fim and wsx handle overseas supercross and ama focuses on what we already have in America. I dont see how doing a few sx races overseas unless its canada and mexico helps the US series at all. Look at the nfl does the london game make the nfl season better? Absolutely not, and it results in shit play cuz it wipes the players out so hard.

The US series works as its own thing because the US is the size of a continent with all types of different places to go and ready made nfl or mlb stadiums all over the country. Its all within 1 country so the riders, series, fans dont have to worry about passports, borders, language/culture barriers, excessively long travel times, time zones, tv times…etc. North and South America are also very far away from the rest of the world, so its easier to move around within the US than go to other countries.

In Europe an international series makes sense because so many countries are close by and each country by itself is small. Trying to turn ama supercross into an international series though will actually water down what is a perfectly oiled machine. It will take something that works perfectly and throw a monkey wrench in its spokes. There is just no need to screw with borders, passports, excessive travel, weird tv times…etc just to say its a true international series. Who cares about if it is or isnt, we should just care about the best product.

The wsx going to europe and other places around the world makes a lot more sense as a separate series. I hope they survive and feld keeps the sx series in the states.

Teams traveling around the world with guys that are midpack or barely making mains. Not a good business plan from day one.

I liked it as a sideshow during the off times, and I really liked seeing the Starks line up against the gas bikes in supercross races.

Some of the money thrown around in the series was truly too good to be true, at least a few riders got the bag.

Last week I was just  about to 'click' on Flights and Accomodations, but, with all the rumours, plus No info from the NZ SMX sites' notifications sign up I did,  I stopped.

I have no great interest in the event, but, it would have been something for one day /  night, while I intended to have a week of checking out Christchurch, and its environs,  especially the Britten Museum.

Plenty of nice, affordable accommodation, within walking / crutching distance to the Stadium in Christchurch, too.

And, perhaps even more of a 'draw' to going to Un Zud, I was hoping to meet some of the Dastardly Kiwis from here, and pick on them (for being Kiwis - but, we Luvs Yuz, Kiwis! ) in person. That, would have made the expense so, So worth it!

Not sure what's going to happen now - nothing, I guess.

If feld buys it i think it turns into a success. They would chin the SMX give the riders a break then do a 5-6 race winter series across the globe. If smx goes then i think the jetts etc would all participate. The series has huge potential to bring new eyes across the globe back to ama supercross.
