Personally, i think they have a place in the market, but i doubt they will be competitive . How hard is someone going to try on a bike that is way off?
JM have made worse turds competitive. Remember his KTM back at the end of the 80s when he raced. Then he raced that Husqvarna, then he become teammanager of Husaberg... Always with decent success.

Good for Geerts, I’d imagine this would be his last shot to prove he’s still got it, SR Honda has a good bike so there shouldn’t be any excuses.

I would assume if it happens, it'll be because they'll mutually split.
I know the SR Honda team is getting more Honda support next year, so that might play a part in it (they could potentially help him buy out the contract).
If that's the case, where does Horgmo go? Beta?
Horgmo would be a good fit for Kawasaki.
So if we look ahead for 2027. Which teams and riders would we have? And how many decent spots? I may have forgotten some teams, especially for teams that only ride the European rounds.

Looks like Fantic will disappear and Jacky Martens' team will switch brands to ZXMoto. Two riders, but no confirmations yet.
The same for KOVE Factory Racing: two riders in MXGP-class, but they are unknown as of yet.
Sounds like Pauls Jonass will continue with Kawasaki and be the team's only 450 rider.

Hutten Racing will close doors after this season.
Nobody. And Jonass will stay.
Factory kawi 450 will be Jonass and RVDM. JM ZXmoto to run Van Doninck and Talviku. Beta seem to be getting Horgmo and Forato. Van Venrooy will probably run a 4 man team of Elzinga, Seewer, Guadagnini and Zanocz. Billy Askew seems to be signing for Dixon with Hammal also doing some European rounds.
I think Guadagnini might retire (but I would love to be wrong), Zanocz is moving on, and no chance Askew goes to DRT. Hammal will do 5 GPs with the potential to do more depending on success

This seems way of the mark. Elzinga will only continue with any team if he brings money, and i'm pretty sure van Venrooys love for Zanocz has cooled quite a bit so i imagine KTM has to place him somewhere else.
Doensen and Brookes are pretty likely to end up in MX2. Valk as well (Chambers according to gatedrop).
I'm pretty sure Zanocs has a multiyear deal with KTM so he will be placed somewhere.

Walvoort is weird It was such an abrupt ending of the season and nothign on socials anymore. I might be mistaken, but it just looks of, i get the feeling his team is done.
Doensen has an MX2 ride but not confirmed with who yet.

Sounds like Horgmo might be going there. Not sure that's a great career move for where he's at in his career, but what are the other alternatives if he wants to stay in MXGP?
It's not exactly easy to privateer the whole season and seats are filled/filling up. Tough spot to be in.
