Looks like we're in for an interesting winter. Ocean water temperatures in the "El Nino" currents are the highest they've been since they've been "accurately" keeping track of it. Since about 1955 from what I've been reading. Lately the tides have been higher than predicted due to a "Marine heat wave", I don't fully understand the nuts and bolts of it but I guess warmer water creates higher than predicted tides. The beaches are disappearing at an alarming rate all along the Ca. coast. The train service is stopped through San Clemente right now. At Cottons point by the former tricky dick residence what used to be a wide beach with volleyball courts, catamarans and kayaks stored on the beach is now just RR tracks, some boulders and the sea. No sand. No beach. Not even at low tide. 3/4 mile north of there is the beach we've been going to since the mid 70's. It's been slowly getting smaller every year. The El nino in 2014 (Hurricane Marie ironically) took a large part of the sand away, and what used to be a fun beach break wave turned into basically shore break. As of today the beach is almost gone and it's baseball and softball sized rocks at the waters edge. We go to different beaches now because.... well that beach sucks now. Shorebreak and rocks doesn't make for a fun filled bathing experience lol. I'm fairly proficient in the ocean but when I went to go for a swim the other night I came home bruised and bloody from dealing with 3-4 foot waves breaking right on shore on rocks. Getting in and out of the water was... challenging at best. The next "King" tides are in late November, if those coincide with a large swell and the waters still warmer then normal the beach erosion will be unprecedented from what we've seen in the past. The storms could make for an epic desert season though. The next few months are going to be interesting weatherwise.

I like to watch this guys daily videos but i don't always agree with his blaming global warming for everything view point. He blamed the fires in eastern Washington on climate change when in realty it has always been dry here and we had a lot of arson or unexplained starts to fires, increased population in burn prone areas, etc.
Anyways, he seems to point toward you SW types getting more precipitation this fall/winter which is good right for the reservoirs? Meanwhile us PNW types will be warmer and drier if I understand all his charts and graphs.

it's been greatly exaggerated and packaged as a way to ensure control of the global population by a few powerful people. The International Climate Committee recently provided an update and correction to their prediction of catastrophe if we missed their target of not reaching +1.5 C degrees by a certain date. Well, it has in fact been exceeded and we're still here carrying on as usual.
There's a very simple solution if the real goal is to lower global temperatures and hopefully stabilize violent seasonal weather swings: refocus the efforts on a voluntary goal of reducing the global population by 50%- NOT by mass abortions, sterilizations or other unpalatable means. 1/2 the population = 1/2 the pollution and other things blamed on Climate Change. Recognize what is happening in most of the oldest civilizations like Japan, Europe and the US where graying of the populations are naturally reducing due to lower childbirths than decades ago. If left to nature the population will right size itself and we need an unfiltered unbiased comprehensive global inventory of "Carrying Capacity" of available food and water to sustain a reduced global population and make that the goal. No need for Paris accord BS, this situation will resolve itself over time if we don't interfere. We also need to shut down the philosophy of endless breeding being promoted by Elon Musk and others because that is making thing worse.
And in the US we can start with eliminating child tax credits for having kids. The message should not be a reward for overbreeding but push for responsible family planning with no government perks for too many kids. Stop all the SNAP and school meal and other subsidies for not providing for your own kids. Only have as many as you can afford to provide for on your own- or just stop.
look at the Farmers Almanac and other sources and you will see a wetter Winter coming your way from changes in jet streams

Some good info in this thread. Especially Sandberm's vid. It looks like we are in for a wet winter here in SoCal. I am hoping for lots of rain and snowpack in the Sierras. That's the water that supplies much of California's AG in the central valley. Which supplies 1/4th of the country's food supply. As fucked up as some of you think CA is, you all better hope this works out.
