Sad day for me! My dad and I had a falling out when my parents divorced. Motocross reminded me of him so I didn’t watch it really at all for a few years.   Started watching motocross again in 2017 and watching his beast mode charges made me want to talk to my dad again. My dad has been a huge piece in my life over these last 9 years and Eli being the incredible rider he is allowed for that door to open.

My favorite Eli ride was 2022 Ironman moto 1 when he repassed Chase to get that crucial moto win. About as clutch of a burst of speed I have ever seen!

The world deserves a 3-race throwdown showdown at SMX - Tomac in full flight v Lawrences v Roczen, plus hopefully Deegan and Prado in there to mix it up.

For some dumb reason in my head I keep getting this fantasy scenario of Jett giving Tomac the "come on, lets go!" notion mid race. A San Diego 2025 x 2026 mash up.

Although inevitable, its bittersweet to see him signing off in 2026 after such a ridiculously strong opening handful of SX rounds this year.

One of the best to ever do it, and one of kind in the way he did it. Long live Beast Mode!

Man, I'm going to miss seeing Eli race but so happy to see him retire happy and healthy.

I got my first MX bike as a kid in 82, and rode a few years until my dad had a bad crash that shattered his knee nearly resulting in amputation. After that our family sold our bikes and stepped away from riding moto.

Still followed the races off and on over the years, but got heavily into mountain bike racing, and John Tomac was a huge inspiration and influence on me growing up.

About the time Eli was turning pro, I heard that John Tomac's kid was racing motocross, and it rekindled my interest in the sport.  I think I've watched every SX heat, semi and Main and every outdoor moto for the last 15 years.  Even got the wife and kids to watch and now watching SX and MX is a family tradition every Saturday and the whole family are Eli fans.

And it didnt end with just watching, I bought another bike and got back into riding, and now the whole family rides.  Watching Eli was a huge part of all of that.

I loved watching Eli shred at Washougal every year, and an absolute core moto memory for me was watching him go absolute beast mode at Salt Lake City 2017 coming from a poor start erasing something like a 12 second deficit to Dungey, making the pass then winning by like 9 or 10 seconds.

Thanks for the memories Eli, and I hope I get to cheer on a 3rd generation of the Tomac family in another 10 or 15 years.

Amazing career, thoroughly entertaining and one of my all time favourite riders to watch. Not many wins the easy way, that's for sure!

Congrats ET, you made your mark for sure!

I’m sad he’s retiring but it’s understandable. We’re lucky we got to see him race for as long as he did! He’s given us so many great memories!

Damn, hard one to swallow. My first experience of Eli Tomac was Mini Warriors 4, and I was a fan and follower ever since (we're the same age)

All the best Eli and enjoy the fruits of your labor and whatever comes next

My son and I stood in line a little over 2 hours at Ironman for his autograph. Little did we know this would be his last time on a motocross track at the professional level. Will miss seeing ET3.IMG 0354.jpg?VersionId=5CQTDnT25suhJWC8

Eli has been around for almost 2 decades as a pro. Now he announces his retirement and I can't find one negative post anywhere about the guy. I didn't expect to. There is nothing but positive thoughts and people wishing him all the best. As he deserves. This tells you he is without question, one of the most respected and well decorated pro's of all time. ET3 is the standard to emulate.

Beast Mode Americana

I’m gonna miss it.

I hope we see him at some races in a new…different capacity in the future.

I had a feeling this would happen.  Glad we'll be at the final in Branson.

It's kind of disappointing that he didn't do an official last call tour.  Then again, that never really was his style.

Wish he had not announced he was not racing next year. He was just getting back to form. Takes some time, especially when you are 33 and a bad crash. Herlings may be at his best right now and not much younger. The King of comebacks.

This is a complete longshot but I request a call to action for @TomJournet; could you please re-upload, "Eli Tomac: Lost Files" video? Easily my favourite all time moto YT video watching Eli ripping with Rooster in the background. Will pay you in coffee, beer, a best buy gift card, anything to watch that video one more time.

Has it been noted that he is retiring due to his crash at Pala?

Well deserved and accomplished so much. I still remember when I was into mountain biking back in my younger years, I had a John Tomac signature Giant ATX frame and seeing John in a mountain bike video and showed Eli pretty much a baby riding around on a mini...then years later, sure enough there's Eli racing pro 250...man I'm old lol.

Very happy for Eli and his family.  Hope he has fun hunting and enjoys well spent time with his family. Congratulations, Eli, and an amazing career. One of the all-time greats to ever throw a leg over a bike.
