His (Jett's) rookie season was better than every other racer in AMA history...correct??? So...Jett is one of the best ever. Deegan finished 3rd in his rookie season. Better than probably 95% of anyone in their rookie season in the premier class. Yeah, Deegan sucks. Poor fkng guy just can't ride or compete at all.
He finished ahead of Prado in points his rookie year.
Deegan's trajectory is looking pretty good.
Deegan's first 450 motocross season was equal to or better than Hunter Lawrences first 450 motocross season (2024), except Hunter had a full season of SX on the 450 and was generally more experienced.
"In his 450cc class rookie season, Lawrence battled for the Championship. He scored multiple podium finishes as well as moto wins, but was unable to win an overall. He held the points lead from round 3 to 6 and showcased consistency all season. Hunter ended the Championship 2nd, scored 9 podiums, 3 race wins, with 42 points the difference in his debut season."

If "the only score that matters" is overall finishing position, how is Danger boy's third overall as a rookie "equal or better" to Hunter's second overall as a rookie?

And for the record, I like Deegan, Jett, Hunter and George P.
It’s hard to argue against 22-0, but I think Kenny Roczen’s rookie 2014 450 outdoor season was among the best simply because of the competition. Ryan Dungey, Eli Tomac, and Trey Canard. Not sure I’d put it above going undefeated in a rookie season, but I do think the weight of competition is a consideration.
I hate this place.
I imagine Deegan feels like anyone who had to race SX against McGrath at his peak, or Carmichael, or Stewart. All were freaks of nature and there is no shame in getting beat by any one of them. I'm not a Deegan fan, but without the freaks-of-nature Lawrence brothers, he would have had a stellar rookie season. Unfortunately for him, he will have to continue to deal with the Lawrences, and then Davies, for good bit of his career. Then there's the Coenen boys and Prado. Deeg's has got some tough years in front of him, not because of lack of talent, be because the oft over-used "deep talent pool" is actually a real thing right now.
