Gas $ 2.0 ?

Buckle up, will be interesting to see what happens once we hit the lower operating limit of the SPR.

Since conflict began, we've been using the SPR as the world gas station. Down 100 million barrels since beginning of March.

I'm on pace to spend about $1600 more this year driving my roughly 25,500 miles.

Was a bit bummed when I saw the price at the nearest Maverick gas station go from $4.59 on Saturday to $4.99 on Monday.

It was $4.77 at the AM/PM Arco Mini Mart couple miles from my place this morning. Down 2 cents from the last couple weeks. Those Arco’s have been locked at $4.79 for awhile in my area.

I’m having to do my due diligence to find sub $5 gas at the moment.

Still, traveling thru out California, I’ve bought gas for $4.62 in Far Nor Cal on Tuesday.

Bought E85 for $1.98 today. Which is nice! 🤣

Just paid $4.49/gal. for regular at the local Costco this morning. I guess I should still count myself lucky compared to gas prices not in just my region, but the whole West Coast, after seeing what a lot of you guys in neighboring states are paying.

Not to downplay the issue as its still relevant, but that data ends at OCT22. It rebounded slightly over the 2023-25 time-frame and now is trending backwards again.

They need to back off of this and restore those reserves.

This is closing in on the event I mentioned earlier. When the IEA and non IEA (China) countries stop using their reserves, oil prices will skyrocket. A lot of these countries have no choice because their only source is Hormuz. We don't have that problem but since we have the worlds second largest SPR, shutting it off will trigger a large price spike. We are coordinating our reserve usage with the IEA. Not sure what would happen if we unilaterally backed out. Especially since we are the culprit who triggered this.

They need to slowly “roll out of it” & then get back to replenishing it.

Since the Raegan-GHW Bush days, we’ve forgotten how to replace the stock that we use.

And this goes way beyond just our strategic energy reserves.

Gas Talk

President Donald Trump's newly announced deal to secure majority U.S. control of more than 65 billion barrels of Venezuelan oil reserves marks a "generational win" that could lower gas prices for American families, according to oil trader Phil Flynn.

the current drawdown began under Biden (or whoever was running the country then) to lower domestic pump prices a few cents per gallon after getting hammered for the "transitory inflation" lies trotted out there repeatedly. He made no serious attempt to replenish after repeatedly claiming they would when oil fell below a specified threshold- but didn't make good on the promise on numerous occasions.
