First they got rid of the uphill triple a few years ago for more vip seats. That blows but at least they still have godzilla. Then they add in the crappy woods section that the riders hate and looks like crap on tv.. ok. Now last year for mxon they get rid of godzilla and just turn it into a hill. They dont even jump down the other side anymore either.
When I saw that last change for mxon last year I was like ok theres all different skill levels at mxon so it makes the track safer, itll be back next year. Its not back, godzilla is gone. They have completely destroyed this track. Its crazy ppl were talking about how bad it was a few years ago when it still had godzilla, and its somehow gotten even worse!
A few years ago before all the changes ppl were starting to really say this was one of the best tracks, definitely in the top 3 conversation. So what did they do? Change everything. Nobody says that anymore. At this point just take it off the schedule, this is absolutely ridiculous. Its gone from my personal favorite track to now bottom 2 with pala in the span of 5 years. Why would you take an awesome track and then remove or change everything single good part on the track? The decision making going on here is mind blowing. This isnt just regular fan complaining theyve removed every single iconic part of the track.
Why do they keep making ironman worse?

I wanted to make this thread myself yesterday. "RIP GODZILLA." I couldn't believe it watching Matty B's vids they didn't change back the Godzilla. Why?! I'm guessing that piece of shit VIP tent from the MXdN is parked up there? The woods section? I dont know. When I watched that area at the MXDN I dont think I saw one pass there, its so one lined. I dont hate it like I hate them ruining Godzilla. Wtf
That would be like unadilla removing gravity cavity, skyshot, and screw u… they wouldnt do that because those are the iconic parts of the track and theyre not idiots. Ironman on the other hand is like you know what would be cool, if we took all of the awesome parts of the track and just removed them. Fucking morons. Take this shit off the schedule.
Ironman was at its best during the 2022 season when Chase and Eli were going at it.
The ‘woods’ section is dumb and looks horrible on tv
Dont look great in person either. One lined nothing of a section. I at least appreciate the effort. But the Godzilla? Let's take away the staple obstacle of our track! Bad enough the uphill triple is gone

No doubt. I remember it being torrential rain at Dilla in '18 or '19 and they bypassed the screw-U. It was a total bummer. Ironman out here doing it just for the hell of it. "How can we make our track worse? Hmmm"
I know that triple was removed for MXDN for viewing and rider safety. Bummer they didn’t bring it back.
I think we’ll still have good racing on the track it’s just not as exciting as it used to be.
The first thing I thought :
"Hey nice place to run HareScramble" !
Na the uphill triple was removed years before mxdn. The owners said it was to add a new viewing area. Guess what that actually means… vip section. Its labelled ironman super pass on the track map.

Godzilla was removed last year for mxon, and theyre apparently just leaving it that way now for..reasons. 🤦♂️🤦♂️
It was still in good form at that time but the uphill triple was gone by then. The track was at its top form when herlings came over in 2017. Uphill triple still there, godzilla big af, no ass cheeks woods section, you could still launch that section after the wooden bridge.
Look at this fucking track bro this was the peak of american motocross. MONSTER jumps everywhere, perfect dirt, beautiful scenery. Fuck man. Moto 2 was iconic blake baggett holeshot, herlings last to first, tomac going for a championship. They really fucked up a good thing.
Last year at Nations a bunch of guys hauled a flat screen tv and a generator down there to watch the race lol. That was the only way we saw any action until returning to the main track.
agreed 100%, place used to be so sick with Godzilla, that massive uphill triple, and the back to back roller section. I gotta say Millville probably takes the top spot right now, Budds is iconic also but I feel like the track gets a little one lined every year
Glad I'm not the only one thinking this. What a shame. Me and a buddy were going to make a trip out there for the National and stay and ride it. Now, no worth it at all.
Exactly. The triple was gone when I went in '21. The '21 Godzilla was more just a big uphill table and then a big downhill table. Which was still cool. It's a joke if they even still have the blow up Godzilla because its completely gone
How do you even come up with the idea to remove the most recognizable and iconic part of the track that even has its own mascot? Its like theyre sabotaging themselves on purpose. The changes theyve made would be all of the things at the top of the list of what definitely not to do. That would be like the owners of red bud flattening laroccos leap.
Reminds me of Muddy Creek. Once the honeymoon romance phase was over, and the "Dream on" nostalgia wore off, the industry sort of looked at the place for what it is: narrow and mulchy.
Ironman, more like Ironfag
Ironfag sounds like ED medicine for MTV commercials.
Can say the same for Southwick.
Pit Row
I like the woods section. I wish they didnt remove Godzilla and the right hand 90 off the start
this is the track that MX sports owns outright, correct?
It needs mooooooore snotty mulch 😂
No.
Correct me if im wrong, but didn't it used to turn left after going under the covered bridge, went straight towards the parking lot for a bit, then then turn right and a long rhythm section in front of some grandstands, then another right hand turn? Basically another whole section removed several years ago
Worse prep of the season award. 🥇
Once again, another great opportunity for moto media to have an interesting interview about a subject…but we’ll get “how was your weekend?” Instead…
Here's my take. There's probably not a US national that been televised, streamed or any other thing you can think of that I haven't watched. I thought that was one of the greatest tracks I've ever seen today.
Neutered features aside, WTF happened to the race surface and prep? Is someone else running the track? Ironman used to be prepped almost perfectly - slow insides, fast outsides. Now it’s just another slot car track.
... RIP Godzilla
