In 2023-2024 the MA / HRC got the Lawrences to Europe. Last year the Belgians, French, Dutch,.. got their best possible teams to Ironman with the help and/or funding from their teams and national federations. Without complaining. Star has sent riders and bikes to Europe in the past without hesitation. But boohoo, all of a sudden it's all too difficult and expensive for the biggest and richest team of the AMA, which in itself is the biggest and richest federation there is in the world.

Excuse me for not buying that cop out.

You know very well were it goes to.

They pay out a limited budget as prize money and support for travel expenses, see below. We all agree they should do more and pay a decent amount of prize money. But that's just another discussion. What this Star/Deegan-discussion is about, "show up money", will never happen. Especially not for one racer and when others like Hymas, Kitchen, Webb, Hampshire,.. have all expressed interest and motivation to represent USA no matter the costs or efforts. You just need to understand Team USA no longer strikes fear into their opponents like they used to ten years ago, nor that the fans especially come to the race to see the Americans, and it's on themselves to blame.

To be honest, the US isn't a topic at all. The fact that the Lawrence brothers aren't coming is a topic. They are the only interesting drivers there. The Americans have nothing else to say; nobody is going to miss them. STAR Racing might as well not have said anything. Nobody in Ernee will feel any loss later on if there are no STAR Yamas.

Nobody will miss the American riders? What about the AMA riders? All that will need to happen is for SMX to add one more round and the MXDN is dead. A short list of todays riders that would not compete in the MXDN if that happens; Ken Roczen, Jett Lawrence, Hunter Lawrence, Jorge Prado, Eli Tomac, Chase Sexton and next year both Coenen brothers. Fans will lose all interest in MXDN. MXGP better do something to save the race or it will die. This is up to MXGP to fix this, no other organization is responsible for this mess. It's an MXGP money grab.

"They pay out a limited budget as prize money and support for travel expenses," Why the limited budget? Make it so that no country has to pay anything to attend the race, whatever is left over can be donated to the charity of choice. There, problem solved.

All the listed riders you mentioned raced on a regulary base the mxdn in and outside of the US.You should list the riders who never raced the mxdn and put Deeganpussy in first place!

Well, most of the time the best non-American AMA-riders just show up to represent their nations during the European editions in contrast to the American AMA-riders. The Lawrences (2023-2024), Prado (2026), Roczen (2023-2024), Vialle (2023-2024), Locurcio (2023-2024, 2026), Haarup (2026), Guillod (2026), Tøndel (2026), etc.. The Coenens will be there aswell in 2027, barring injuries.

Like I said, agree, but prize money isn't the cause of this issue here. Deegan wants to get paid before he shows up.

Okay, Deegan has the right to ask for money. One could try, no? But don't act surprised when you get a cold response.

Not when there are millions  of dollars on the line as is currently being displayed by Jett, Hunter, and Deegan. Like I said, add one more round of SMX and we will see how patriotic the riders you mentioned are. Actually it isn't in contrast to American  riders. There have been very few years that America has not sent a team. Look at all the years that Roczen bowed out of representing his country (when he was a German citizen) All the other riders you mentioned have or will bow out at different times for different reasons. The problem is that MXGP is taking advantage of Riders, teams, and fans. No other sport would tolerate this, not sure why motocross fans do. If MXGP doesn't make some changes and quick, MXDN will die and what a damn shame that would be for all of us motocross fans..

For Star to announce their withdrawal from the event would that mean they initially were in?? 🤔

On the other hand there are a lot of years that America didn't sent their strongest team.

Riders bowing out occasionally like the Law firm or Roczen (who still is and forever will be a German citizen, just so you know) is very well possible indeed. But bowing out every single time like Deegan? Nah.

There are a lot of reasons for some riders not attending. Their contracts expire Oct 1 in America, if a rider is changing teams of course he won't attend. Riders get hurt, or are just plane tired of the grueling US schedule. America has a good track record of sending the best riders available. What is new is the addition of SMX. This 3 race series butts right up against the MXDN. If another round is added MXDN is doomed. Let's hope MXGP recognizes this and makes the obvious changes to allow the MXDN to go on. Ken Roczen is a dual citizen of Germany and the USA.

Sadly enough the American media is trying to sell it a bit like that. They even brought Coenen in the mix while he is injured and has nothing to do with the team or him asking money. Also New-Zealand not sending a team (They will be back fast with the Townley kids, Coppins kid, Davies, ...) But it is absurd how they all jump on the Deegan-train. But it is there only top-american for the future years so they can't burn the bridges I guess.

I'm calling bullshit on this....why don't you provide the links of the "American Media" that is saying this...

The Nations get organised end September - early October for around 60 years. On the other side of the Atlantic the AMA keeps organising events close to the Nations in addtition to the SX and National series (Red Bull Straight Rythm, Monster Energy Cup, SMX), creating conflicting calendars, tired and/or injured riders, riders who only can switch bikes/teams during this period. Yet you declare that it's Infront's (and only Infront's) responsibility to make changes concerning the Nations?

Then I'm afraid we're done talking about this matter.

MXGP needs to stop being so greedy and help the teams, riders, and manufacturers compete in this charity event for MXGP called MXON. That's all, that's it.

Good lord you must be joking. I don't care if it's Infront, MXGP, the FIM, David Luongo, or his dirtbag father Giuseppe. It's all the same to me, MXGP just covers all of the cockroaches in one easy acronym.

Once again, why does MXGP get to collect massive amounts of cash without needing to pay the riders, teams, and manufacturers. No sporting event in the world works like this. Let's all have a bake sale so that it continues to cost MXGP pennies to put on this race. Don't want them to have to pay anyone that makes the race actually happen. And no the MXDN will not continue as it always has without MXGP making some financial changes to the way the event is run. MXDN has already lost Jett, Hunter, and Deegan, the number of risers who will refuse to go is only going to gain steam.

Jett, Hunter, and Deegan had a choice. They stated hat they needed a break, I agree the do. So instead of racing 3 extra races (SMX) just skip those 3 meaningless races so that you can represent your country. They would get all the rest they need and have a very good chance of bringing the Chamberlin trophy back to Australia again. I can't figure out for the life of me why they chose SMX over MXDN. Hmm, could it be $$$$$$ ?

Of course it's the money. SMX knew to add more races to the calendar they had to pay more money in a purse.

Why in front can't figure that out is their own damn problem.

SMX is paying 4m back over three weekends. That's 1.25m per weekend in purse

In front can't pay 500k back over 1 week? I promise you between the 100k tickets sold, vendor fees, etc, they most certainly could.

Everyone is freaking because they hate Deegs. It literally is insane that everyone is bagging on riders and not the cheap ass promoters.

For Star to announce their withdrawal from the event would that mean they initially were in?? 🤔

I take it as, they were "available" if the money was going to be there...

Not only that, in the first year of superdupercross, MXdN had already been scheduled before the announcement of SMX, and lo and behold they chose dates that conflicted, and MXdN had to be moved back. Biggest race of the year moved for a sideshow.

I actually take it as the opposite, the money would have been there just like in the past if their rider was in. Him backing out came first, star provided cover.

I love this race as much as anyone but people need to get real if they think this race suffers much at all if the US backs out.

Even if they do, SMX is never ever going to schedule over this race, way too many overlapping sponsors. This is a non issue.

The motivation to attend this race needs to always be the pride that comes with representing your country. I'm all for removing the cost and hurdle to attending by sharing the wealth. Make guys feel whole and give them a first class experience, but the "profit" on top of that needs to be the pride. I have zero interest in having someone there who won't do it in that situation but will go if it becomes a money race for them. I can only think of one rider who doesn't seem to get this. The entire state of USA involvement and the health of the race needs to stop being dragged through the mud because of one dumb family.

Couldn't agree more. I would imagine most Americans on this forum would agree with this.

I've been on the boards long enough to remember when these same debates/issues revolved around conflicts with the US Open in Vegas.  😂

But that was a separate stand alone event.  SMX is and has been now for a bit a part of the series here in the States, and is a straw man here.  US Contracted talent are pretty well committed to it from A1 on, so much so that some will rack up points in SX to dodge a few rounds of the outdoors before the playoffs begin.

It doesn't conflict with the MXdN, and the season really doesn't run that much further out into September than it did before the outdoors lost a round and finishes earlier than in the past.

I'm not going to repeat my point that InSport should be funding teams' cost to get there from event revenue (not just the US team).  When we get romantic about the history of this event that history got sold out a long time ago.   The model for this event changed in the 90s when the FIM farmed it out to Action Group, the predecessor to YouthStream, who then sold rights to Dorna (remember 2002?), and then bought it back from Dorna.  But I recognize that's not going to change.   And I can't blame a rider for wanting to get paid if someone is profiting from his participation.

I agree there needs to be more attention to fund raising at the beginning of the year and throughout, and some attention to elevating the incentives to participate.  If realistically the only incentive is pride, and teams and riders have to eat the financial and health risk, then raise the funds from day one and send the guys who want to go and pay their way at least.

I love the event, and am going to enjoy it even if a US team isn't there or if the team is not all our "best" guys and we're  at best in the mix to get into the A final even if long shots at best for the win.  It's not new that our best guys don't go.  That goes back to the first winning team that DeCoster cobbled together in 81.  RC didn't go in 2004 when other premier guys wouldn't step up, and no team went at all.  Stew wasn't in as many as people had wanted.  Kawasaki US's attitude has been entrenched for a while now.  None of this is new.  Not going to let it ruin my enjoyment of the event.

Deegz been flexing his $10M new house on YouTube for months. Can't go to the MXdN though. FOH

You're not even ragebaiting anyone btw, you're literally just annoying. Your whole shtick clearly didn't work out, why are you still doing this to yourself? lol

Nice to hear people in the business finally state the obvious, that Deegs just doesn’t want to go and that is why Star is making excuses. If Deegs wanted to go, Star would be going.

I need you to go to google and look up the word, "speculation" and then I need you to go to google and look up the word, "evidence". Then, think about the difference between the two.  Speculating on Deegan's motives is not evidence and saying Star is making excuses is speculation.
