Vocal fry? I’m not quite sure what that means.
As an Aussie I'm giggling at 'moot'
I really wanted to post this same thing yesterday, but figured I'd get blasted! lol😆 Yes its Moot not Mute! Reminds me of the time Mookie repeated a couple times in an interview "It was a blessing in the sky". No hate on Mookie though, this was quite a few years ago, and I'm a big fan of the guy. And ditto on the vocal fry. Never thought of that description but its accurate. It's where one speaks from the back of the throat instead of projecting their voice from their chest/diaphram, and its like nails on the chalkboard for me. Comes across as vocal laziness. Vocal coach ML? 🤣 Flame away.............
And while we're at it can someone tell RV its ESPECIALLY not EXSPECIALLY
Maybe Mookie was making a malapropism such as, fire distinguisher or optional illusion.

wow. with all the ground ML covers bringing us industry news and insider adjacent info on everything moto related - you jackals are going to call him out publicly for grammar?
if you really had to correct him, imho a discreet pm would have been the mature way to go...
Nobody picks on our Leader & King. Stop it
What is wrong with you?
So us “jackals” should be grateful for ML doing HIS JOB!? The fact he is in a profession to do EXACTLY what you said and is compensated in doing so…. Is something that shrouds him from criticism on discussing how he does his JOB!?
Nothing in my post was a personal attack or beyond the scope of his profession… I.e. JOURNALIST/ POD CAST HOST. The improper use of an idiom by a professional journalist/podcast host certainly allows criticism. Further more the constant vocal fry at the end of his sentences during a PODCAST is also valid for the same.
This industry is so pathetic because of people like “you”. NONE OF THESE PEOPLE ARE DOING US A FAVOR. It’s their PROFESSION!
So go back to your safe space and keep on telling yourself people that WORK for MONEY should be protected from getting their feelings hurt.
I mean, I don’t mind being called out on my grammar. It’s an area I can always improve in.
As for my voice, sorry, that’s just how I sound. For the record, I can not listen back to anything I’m in because I can’t stand my own voice, but I’m stuck with it.
Nothing is wrong with your voice Michael!
It’s only the end of your sentences (not the majority of time).
Look up the definition.
It’s lazy speaking. You’re PROFESSIONAL podcast host. Some people find no issue with it… but just do a google search and you’ll see it’s something that has been widely discussed.
Oh… I better lick your boots and prostrate myself before you and feel lucky that you’re doing your job. Unless I want to keep getting such hurtful criticism by @RDnutz and his/him Army.
Like I said before… with all due respect, I LOVE YOUR WORK. Thank you Michael
Now that's "Old School" Vital 😁
lol! With all that anger brewing inside- why bother even coming here for his content if petty stuff bothers you so much? You might be able to find some effective counseling for that Superiority Complex and have a happier life. 😝
Diesel soot gets it
Anyone criticizing the minutia of a podcast, television host or any public figure's speech patterns has absolutely no clue how difficult those jobs are.
I used to be in that position...literally. Lindsay was my successor at Vital. Ask him... he knows how bad I was on the mic when he started helping out with testing. But I worked at it as best I could and still do on occasion.
And from Michael's standpoint, he was a ball of nerves at the beginning. However, his technical and historical knowledge combined with his genuine enthusiasm for the sport far outweigh any faults or errors that may arise when it comes to delivering (100% FREE for users btw) all of the information he spends countless hours and days gathering, filtering through and editing. Today I think he is one of the best journalists in the sport.
I'm proud of Michael for what he's achieved here and in the industry as a whole. It's great to see and I feel fortunate to have played my very small part in his growth.
Also, mxav8r, as it most prominently relates to this forum... Michael is faster than you on a dirt bike.
Pretty sure, most people can’t stand their own voice, unless you’re Morgan Freeman or David Attenborough. 🤣
Wow, it just Don Don'd me that this is such an issue. You'd think people would get corrected about these things Right from the Gecko. There's got to be a Brazilian examples of this stuff.
You’re a* professional podcast host
He used your and you’re correct……
Pit Row
Vocal fry is yet another horrible stain inflicted on the English language by California Valley Girl speech, along with the unbearable and constant use of 'like'.
Actually, improving your vocal delivery is one of the easiest things that can be worked on and practiced, especially considering it’s part of your craft.
I’m still trying to work out wtf vocal fry is………
Best Seinfeld episode ever.
I disagree, and I'm smarter than you're.
A*
I hate listening to my stuff back, but its part of it, you cant work on things you have no idea you are doing.
The best content can be marred by poor delivery, or bad spate of the 'but yeah , for sure's '... to the point where that is all you end up hearing.
But dont get paranoid, i had to look it up too.....
Language changes, and so does the use of it over time, i just sat in a meeting where one guy said obviously 10 times in under a minute... we all have something we are unaware of, till we hear it .
Content is spot on, we are listening through choice, its not like the Broadcast stuff where you have to put up with it just to see the visuals.
Well, irregardless, your not going to win this argument.
Madre of deity, please make it cease!
If the OP's intent was to offer constructive criticism perhaps it would have been better to offer it in a PM or an email.
Maybe that would be more professional
