Not weighing in on whether I like Deegs or not. That’s been beating to death. But an observation from Saturday. The Star Yamaha tent was ten deep with people around the railings all morning just waiting to catch a glimpse of Haiden. Honda had allot of fans around the tent at certain times, but nothing like Haiden. People were running into the pits at 9 when the gates opened just to line up around his pit. Been going to the races a long time, never seen a rider draw more attention including MC, RC, JS7, or TP199. Good or bad Yamaha has more eyes on there product right now than ever before. They are not going to want that to end anytime soon. No way they try to censor him. He brings way too much value to wanna make any waves with the kid or his dad

There are many people who value an athletes records and accomplishments over their ability to handle themselves with humility and have respect for their competitors. This guy reminds me so much of J law. He just can’t help himself just like that. Antagonizing and ankle biting RV and RD then just slithering away into obscurity while they went on to do what they did. It was a fitting end for him and may turn out to be the same for the 38. Great racer, horrible human.

He just thought he was being funny. The sad thing is his social comments are probably full of “you da man!” because of his following and so he will think the majority of people are laughing with him and not at him. He’s clearly been surrounded by yes men his whole life.
Speed wise, though, he’s better than most people are willing to give him credit for. I’d be willing to bet if you went and looked back he’s lap times before he falls off are closer to the leaders than Hunter’s were during his rookie season and look where he is today, so it’s only a matter of time. Not this year but I think ‘27-‘28 may look a little different.
Hunter also had 3 moto wins his rookie year. Also, go look Hunter was finishing well within 8 seconds off the leader in most motos. Isn’t deegan like, 35 back in some, 20+ in most? Hunter also got a moto win at round 3 his rookie season.
The main difference here is that Hunter for one have always had a calm riding style that would transfer over good to a 450.
He was also a couple of years older and more mature than Haiden when he did his first 450 season. Now I doubt that this maturity would do any difference in Deegans case since both him and his dad will always be grown up teens in their head..
Unless Haiden can clean up his riding he will have a real hard time to get any titles in the next couple of years when his 4 main competitors are way more efficient on their bikes than what he probably ever will be.
The late great Joel Robert once said, "Sometimes you have to slow down to speed up." His point was that you need to find a way to ride less on a ragged edge and more smoothly and precisely. As a casual observer, I don't see how anyone can beat the Lawrence brothers by riding HARDER. You have to find a way to ride the bike BETTER than they do, and so far, anyway, no one really has. Chase, once in a while, but never consistently. Worse yet - they're only getting better, and now Prado is getting better too, and he rides with this same approach. Deegan is a lot like Tomac and Herlings, in that they're always trying to beat their bike into submission. That approach used to work, but those days might be over. Cole Davies is coming along, and he rides effortlessly - and so does Lucas Coenen.
