im far from a deegan fan but,,,,to be fair to him,,

when the lawrences moved up,,there were no lawrences,,there was only the rest of the field

Jett is a phenom, and Hunter is catching up fast

if you take out the Lawrences,,Deegan is leading his rookie championship,,not too shabby

whether he can get to the pace of hunter and jett is yet to be seen, maybe, maybe not

but if he cannot beat jett or hunter straight up this season,he may never win,,,as lucas and sacha are coming, and sexton shimoda etc

personally i can only see two scenarios,,,

deegan gets to jetts level,,,or,,,he becomes another possible podium contender

I agree with everything in your post except Sexton.   He is a 'has been', and will never win another title

That’s a bold prediction Cotton….

Imo, Deegs will never win a 450 title. He will be a pereninial runner up.

Fast just like Windham, Short, Alessi, and so many others in the past.

He has the 125/ 250 feeder speed, but this just wont quite translate into a 450 package.

Lawrences, Coenens, and that chip on his shoulder will keep him down.

Non of those guys are 250 MX champions.

There is plenty of guys that won titles despite there being better/faster riders in the same era. The whole "he will never win a title because there is 2-3 better guys" I think doesn't work so well anymore in this current era with the injury/crash rate. I think we can't properly predict anymore in motocross. If Jett, Hunter and Lucas were all immortal, I'd probably agree with you. But they're not. And Deegan (so far at least) has proven that he's pretty durable, that could definitely put im in a very good position in the future, specially in SX.

Back when Kenny was just getting rolling on the 450's I thought he was a LOCK in 2017. He looked so damn fast. Then, you know.

Then you have someone like Web who was, IMO, never the "fastest" or even looks the most "talented" is a 3 time SX champ and his latest in 2025, IMO was him just not making mistakes like Chase.

Give you that, Deegs is definitely durable and like RC seems to bounce up from crashes that would sideline others. This sport can be cruel in that manner where some can never escape injury and others seem to always stay healthy and definitely can cause history to be written/re-written

No one on this earth is faster than Jett- that's the baseline. I think Deegan can run Jett's pace, but he is at 110% effort (unsustainable) and would not be able to ride "faster" to catch / pass him (unless Jett makes a mistake). Riding this faster pace- He will  need to also improve his bike set up to run that speed more consistent, including getting comfortable himself at that speed.

Jett will already go down as the fastest rider ever (one of)- hard for anyone to come up against and beat that...

Jett is still recovering from a serious injury, has had to cut his riding and testing, and adjust his riding technique. He is still the fastest rider in the world. As he recovers further he will only get faster...

What if your wrong?

What if his foot never recovers?

Well it appear Jett can beat just about anyone with one foot!

Deegs would be getting almost universally praised if he wasn't acting like a cockhead wearing stupid shirts, talking shit about girlfriends and saying what if I beat him ahead of doing a damned thing.

huh? deegs is always talking about his bike (deegs didn't at beg of season). but it seems to be an excuse now. still talking about shifting (hint: you click up deegs) and now he talks about getting stronger as if he wants to continue to bulldawg a 450 (not as fast deegs). not sure that's the way to get the bros.....

Everybody talks about the bike, duh. The reference is that he’s not going overboard about it like Sexton. Why does that have to be explained? 🙄

well, we have certainly heard him talking about the bike the last few weeks....don't remember him doing it early in the season. not sure why this bothers you?

Your data shows that at no point was Deegan faster than Jett.

Jett Lawrence went 22-0 in his rookie 450 season...

Looks certain to be Star Racing. But he'll fuck that up. It's not the teams. It's him and his dad.

AP won a 250 MX championship and has still never even won a 450 moto...

It's pretty clear that usually those who win championships in 450 MX have done so in 250 (major exception being Crazy Chase)...but it's definitely not a sure thing that those who win 250 MX championships go on to do the same in 450s.

I often wonder if the burn out just got to Chase, there is some crazy stat like he made it 4 years without ever missing a gate drop or something like that. If he can get some time to clear his head, get his bike dialed, he very well could be the guy. He rides just like them, he just can’t feel his front tire very well.

I don't have to google, non of those guys are 250 MX champions. Windham did have one 125 SX title.

You could have used google and used Tedesco as an example.  Bad example though because Deegan has better results than him as well and it's his 1st season.

I think he tried to override for a few laps at 120% and soon realized the level Jett is on, and decided it's best to finish the race via the finish line and not EVAC.

I’d certainly be nervous if I was his engine builder.

I think Lucas has the smarts to back things down and realize the first year is for learning, Sasha needs to take the same approach but I don’t know that he can. He is so fast but tends to crash. We have seen that before with lots of guys and it doesn’t work out well.

I don't think so in '27.  Maybe in '28 if he wins the SX title again.
