Why are we comparing Deegan to Jett? Jett’s faster, duh. Why go to nth degree to try and hammer that in? It’s just stupid. Because he trolled Jett early on and doesn’t apologize or roll over? Here we are trying to build some kind of Jett superhero scenario against a kid rookie. Ridiculous

What we should compare is when Jett goes quasar - only when Hunter has a comfortable lead in the points - Hunter at Pala, and then goes 1-1 at Hangtown. Hmm

I think people don’t take into account how much Jett and Hunta training together pushes their limit past everyone else that much more. These guys can each train with the fastest guy they are going to race on the weekend and that’s pretty gnarly to think about. Just another day for them on Saturday.

Imo, Deegs will never win a 450 title. He will be a pereninial runner up.

Fast just like Windham, Short, Alessi, and so many others in the past.

He has the 125/ 250 feeder speed, but this just wont quite translate into a 450 package.

Lawrences, Coenens, and that chip on his shoulder will keep him down.

Okay, “most” everyone’s. I didn’t think he would do this good.

I think the question is how does Jett work the rest of the rounds to let Hunter win, but not make it obvious. Any predictions?

Prior to the season Hunter wasn’t even mentioned, now that he’s gapping Deegs by 30 seconds a moto he’s in the conversation

No one on this earth is faster than Jett- that's the baseline. I think Deegan can run Jett's pace, but he is at 110% effort (unsustainable) and would not be able to ride "faster" to catch / pass him (unless Jett makes a mistake). Riding this faster pace- He will  need to also improve his bike set up to run that speed more consistent, including getting comfortable himself at that speed.

Jett will already go down as the fastest rider ever (one of)- hard for anyone to come up against and beat that...

Ricky and James have both said they think Jett would beat them in their prime. Ricky said he would more than likely have him beat on the mental side but riding ability/talent jett would beat him.

Everybody talks about the bike, duh. The reference is that he’s not going overboard about it like Sexton. Why does that have to be explained? 🙄

Watch out - when Deegan learns to bulldog that 450 and rev it even harder, he’ll be untouchable.  This is sarcasm for the dense BTW.

Damn straight. Time to jump on the latest social media trend, he just needs that HRC bike. The only thing keeping him from being untouchable is his slow Yamaha. (This is also sarcasm)

There is plenty of guys that won titles despite there being better/faster riders in the same era. The whole "he will never win a title because there is 2-3 better guys" I think doesn't work so well anymore in this current era with the injury/crash rate. I think we can't properly predict anymore in motocross. If Jett, Hunter and Lucas were all immortal, I'd probably agree with you. But they're not. And Deegan (so far at least) has proven that he's pretty durable, that could definitely put im in a very good position in the future, specially in SX.

I'd push back a bit, and say the last 2 laps Haiden realized Jett was on another level, and backed it off.

I'm not a Deegan fan, but have to give him respect, he's an animal out there, and the closest one to the Law Firm.

OP accounts for this in his calculations.

To be fair before supercross not many people had Hunter as a title contender, I remember mathis giving Hunter a 5% chance

Tim Ferry, K-dub, Sebastian, James Stewart, ect always just needed a few extra seconds a lap to match RC. Bubba got close but no one was ever able to beat RC outdoors consistently. Jet is on that level of domination, other than his brother I don't think anyone beats him outdoors and he retires a champion.

Even now as the points leader, most people are still only talking about Jett and Deegan. I'm sure Hunter is fine with that though.

His problem is there are four, or five faster riders on the roster for the next years.

The odds of all 5 failing is zero

Nonsense. Many here expected him to have wins by now.

Yes, I originally expected him to have a moto win at least by now, comparing to what Jett and Hunter were.

But Jett and Hunter aren't there anymore - they are much better now. It's not a slight to Deegan to say his competition has improved beyond his reach at this moment or season.

Deegan is literally the only one challenging. Prado, at times.

And yeah, he’s getting better and has exceeded everyone’s expectations.

The Nats are always a little depleted.

Challenging?  Who. What races are you watching?  He’s never once this season challenged either brother. Running his trap doesn’t count.

I mean he has beaten them both this year.  So he must have challenged them a little?  He has also been one of two people to pass either of them this year. To say he hasn't "challenged" either of them even once seems a little extreme?  But to each there own.  He isn't even close to as far away as everyone else in the class has been.

IMO on 450s Jett beats them by a little bit, on two strokes Bubba and Ricky pull a small gap

Back when Kenny was just getting rolling on the 450's I thought he was a LOCK in 2017. He looked so damn fast. Then, you know.

Then you have someone like Web who was, IMO, never the "fastest" or even looks the most "talented" is a 3 time SX champ and his latest in 2025, IMO was him just not making mistakes like Chase.

im far from a deegan fan but,,,,to be fair to him,,

when the lawrences moved up,,there were no lawrences,,there was only the rest of the field

Jett is a phenom, and Hunter is catching up fast

if you take out the Lawrences,,Deegan is leading his rookie championship,,not too shabby

whether he can get to the pace of hunter and jett is yet to be seen, maybe, maybe not

but if he cannot beat jett or hunter straight up this season,he may never win,,,as lucas and sacha are coming, and sexton shimoda etc

personally i can only see two scenarios,,,

deegan gets to jetts level,,,or,,,he becomes another possible podium contender

I agree with everything in your post except Sexton.   He is a 'has been', and will never win another title
