What happened to the topic on this from yesterday? Some were saying that levels around 200 was basically eminent death and others were saying it was fine. Currently they’re in the moderate level with an AQI around 55. Winds (light…around 6-8 mph) are supposed to shift overnight/early AM to come from the North. Hopefully that doesn’t bring smoke with it. My guess is everything will be fine.

I live 30 miles north of the twin cites. The sky is blue for the 1st time in 3 days here. Last 3 day before today it was a brown/yellow haze.
Not that Jersey is even close, but the air is way more clear today than that last few days. My question is, what the hell is on fire? Like the OP said, it doesn't smell like "woods" burning. Has a chemical smell to it.
Yeah, it appears the smoke has blown east to MI..where I am in WI the smoke was bad yesterday, but today 99% gone..
The latest forecast right now says the smoke is going to change direction and millville will be right on the edge. If you think this isn't important you never raced these guys have to able to breath and it doesn't look good. .
Not far from you. I noticed the haze this morning in Maryland. Had no idea wildfires had been blazing in Canada again.
Here in Ma it was pretty bad on Tuesday or Wednesday. II was in my shop and looked out the window around 230 and it was dark ou! Dark like just after/during sunset while its still light . But no bright sun in the sky. Was smelling like campfire and as the smoke first moved in the light was amazing. Very warm, yellow orange light. It would have been amazing for photos.
I went out into the woods and its normally pretty loud at that time of the day, birds chirping and singing. And it was almost dead silent. No daytime critters running around. A peep here and there from a hungry baby bird. But very eerie feeling.It was just like the solar eclipse , were I was I had less than full, so it wasn't totally dark.
I hope it doesn't impact the air quality too much for the race. It could make for some really cool photos if it stays up high enough and isn't too thick. But I could see a race being postponed for smoke if it was thick enough. It wasn't too bad here, although I wasn't doing a lot of activity out in it either.
The 200+ is just typical for cancellation of outdoor sporting events, etc. Not exactly "death".
But for sensitive people, that might be enough to cause them discomfort.
That said, I agree, it's showing 58 right now which is a massive improvement and if this continues, should not be an issue at all. Hell, most cities in the US run mid 50's all the time...
