I was listening to the latest Winners Take Yall podcast with RC on it. There was a moment when they asked RC about his mom and he would be who he is without her.
I’ve always wondered about her and what her background in moto was. Also what was big Rick’s role compared to hers?
Lastly, did that doc on RC ever come out? Couldn’t find anything
...and?
Not sure what the and is for? Simply asking what was her background…where did her training knowledge come from? Lastly, always hear about her and was curious what part big Rick played.

I think SMF was wondering what RC said re: "would he be who he is without her". I thought that's where you were going at first.

Oh…he said per him selfishly he would like to think he would be if she wasn’t part of the program. He also had other people that helped him as well.

I've wondered myself if she was just a loving mom who pushed her son hard to be great or if she had sports training knowledge?
Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Davi Millsaps mom Colleen have alot to do with his training when he was on mini's up to the big bikes? And the original MTF?
Induct her into the moto hall of fame for something because I think she deserves it. Probably right up with Bobby Regan.
I'm pretty sure she helped Dungey and Jeremy Martin when they trained there for at least a year or more.
RC and his mom not talk? Seems like heard that once..

He could have graciously said he doesn’t know, but appreciated her sacrifice for his career. Odd response.
There are a LOT of unsung heroes in the Tallahassee area that helped get RC to where he is. None of it would have happened without all of the pieces of that puzzle including his innate talent.
She had no background in moto, or athletics , she learned as she went. She took RC to some riding schools when he was on 60s and 80s and she would sit and learn too, and coach RC the same way. The stop watch and the work ethic was all her.
Big Rick was an electrician, he got the bikes ready for them, but he wasn’t involved in their training. When RC was making money as an amateur, he became RCs full time mechanic.

I don’t have any idea of where she got her moto knowledge prior to her taking on the role of helping the young Carmichael train. But my guess is that she made sure he received instruction from someone (Gary Bailey perhaps?) early on, and she took on the role of enforcing a strict and consistent practice discipline. RC has mentioned that aspect many times.
I had the great honor and privilege of meeting her and Big Rick at Steel City during RC’s final season, and they were both as nice as they could be. And when the racing was happening, she watched every lap just like any other nervous moto mom. There’s no question that Carmichael’s family support made his stellar career possible.

I was a little surprised RC said that as well. Even if he thinks that…you gotta show mom some love and say “no way I would be here without her!”
I didn't see it mentioned yet in this thread, so my bad if it was posted already. The first episode of the "Moto Moms" podcast was an interview with Jeannie Carmichael. Episode 3 is Sonya Stewart. I thought they were both interesting interviews.

Listening to podcasts over the years always got the feeling she didn’t have a sports background and was a typical overbearing moto dad with lady parts. You don’t earn the nickname “meanie Jeanie” without being a hardass
