Predictably, but I expected the American squad would give a better account of itself. Belgium isn’t the monster it once was. US squad has the talent but wasn’t quite ready for the big show and made some stupid moves.

The sad part is that it may have been a very different game had the corrupt orange prick not stuck his oar in.

The US were on a great run, playing well, playing with confidence and with the whole country behind them. They had everything gong for them. Meanwhile Belgium were doing what they often do - spluttering their way through a tournament unconvincingly (very English-like).

Trump managed to turn a period of success, popularity, and confidence into tricky and unsettling situation for everyone involved with USMNT, while lighting a raging inferno under Belgium

Ironically this was the best outcome for the USA after trump’s pathetic intervention. Had there been any progression, how hollow and embarrassing would that have been.
Awful for the national team and fans, More victims of the toddler let loose in the White House. Wake up America!

USA on a great run, playing well.. I second that.

They won from a very naive Paraguay, won from a very poor Australia, lost from an already eliminated Turkey and won from Bosnia. I can't fathom how they actually believed they could win the World Cup. They've never won from a European country in the knock-outs before Bosnia. How on Earth would they get past Belgium, Spain, France? If someone puts pressure on Tim Ream, who has the turning circle of a cargo ship, team USA gets in trouble. Belgium was the first team who put constant forward pressure against team USA when the Americans were in ball possession. All three host nations are eliminated now and USA was the only one who got humiliated.

I believe they just don't know much about football. Not meant as an offense, the American sport culture is simply so different from the European.

Winning the tournament was obviously unrealistic for the US, and I agree about their progression, but they were riding a crest of a wave and Trumps intervention not only derailed that it turned everyone against them - for absolutely no fault of their own - and caused a big stink in the middle of what has otherwise been an enjoyable and successful World Cup.

Belgium were favourites to win on paper, but they were beatable. The team seemed to play with an extra focus and conviction that had been lacking until now and I think that, along with the furore and extra pressure affected the US and it led to some of their mistakes - even if Pochettino says otherwise.

Credit where it’s due: at least the US team did the honourable thing and declined to participate in the match.

Must admit, I thought the yanks had one more win in them, bit of shame theyre out, but after the the Gong show from Trump and FIFA it's probably the best outcome

That Infantino needs to go, he looks as slimey as they come

"Why anyone would focus on a countries sitting president is strange"

You've just ousted Venezuela's president and stolen their oil and spent over $100 Billion eliminating Irans entire leadership.

Whether I supported those actions is neither here nor there. I was just highlighting the disparity between you stating that nobody should care about leaders of foreign nations while the US is actively removing leaders of foreign nations by military force.

Meh…all angst and vitriol aside…

Belgium played a higher level game. They played “Damn Near Premier League” and our guys played at a level that wasn’t quite as high.

Someone compared Belgium to England. OK, but…both of them are pretty damn good when they get their shit together.

The hardest part of all of this…for me?

Watching France when they’re on point. Damn, that’s frustrating. 🤣

Thumbs down Manny, Thumbs down.

There would be no angst and vitriol if our president hadn't become involved. His influence changed the course of the process and that's fucked up, you know it and I know it.

I'm waiting for the list of things that, to date, he hasn't left a stain on, or actually improved, it will help balance out the trail of disaster he's left so far.

I voted for this; it's partly my fault.

Again, all that usual bs aside…well…that’s not possible for some.

But, no worries. You guys go ahead and tell your story…your angst…Orange Man Bad…and all that. It’s ok. It’s all part of the game.

Me? As I’ve been doing from the on-set…as I said back when he came down the escalator…

The New York Real Estate Reality TV Dude is gonna make the politicos lose thier fucking minds.

And,..here we are.

You guys do you.

As for The Cup? France is the real threat. 🤣

I'm sorry to know are on board with an elected official interfering in the outcome of a sporting event?

Y’all ever consider that may a group of 20 year olds that play soccer in Europe for a living don’t really give a shit about any of the stuff you think they do? Can you consider for even a moment that not everything in the world is about Trump?

This marks the 4th consecutive WC where the US has lost at the round of 16. This is their level.

I am more concerned that faking an injury can determine the outcome of the game.

I can hear it now.

“Can you play soccer?

Yes, I am pretty good, but excellent at faking an injury.

You’re on the team. Congrats!”

They should recruit from the drama club.

Bring on real football!

I really tried to get interested in watching World Cup Soccer as the American media was making a big deal about it. Watched a few matches, including the last one. But I really have a hard time spending over an hour or so when the scores are so low. 🙄😴

What I heard was the avg seat price for those tickets in Seattle were $1200! 😲

Daft concept but a bit of fun for a RedBull promo.

FYI Jordan Pickford (England Goalkeeper) is a Motocross fan and is good buddies with a British Championship rider named Carlton Husband. If wasn't for his football career taking off he said he would have liked to have raced himself.
