With talk of Forkner retiring…
He’d have to be in discussion as some of the best to never win a title in either class? His early season win for multiple season was pure domination… untill they weren’t.
Thoughts/discussion?
Who would be your Mount Rushmore of titless legends?
Lot of great riders without tits
Sebastien Tortelli, Kevin Windham, and Trey Canard.
Honorable mention: Ezra Lusk, and Travis Pastrana.
This is for 450/250 smoker class, of course.
Seb is a world champ
Trey is a 250 champ
Travis is a 250 champ
KW is a regional 250 champ and so is Lusk
Seb is a World Champ, but didn't win an AMA title. Trey, Travis, and KW never won a premier class title.

This has got to be a joke..
The OP's question was in either class, though, so none of those guys qualify.
It's just the best that never won a premier class AMA title. Not that hard to understand.
I never won a title in either class
DV, Seely, Shorty for starters
Don’t flame me but did musquin ever win a title? I know he didn’t in premier class.
Yes, 250 SX (and two Mx2 mxgp titles)
Underrated careers.

When I think of the best guy who never won anything, I think of Ryan Sipes.
I kind of think that that few short years by Forkner trumps these. Purely because he was legitimately a favourite and winning whereas all the others mentioned here had decent journeyman careers but were never favourites.
Except for DV
fair argument,
Isnt Austin Forkner top 3 or something for all time combined 250 SX wins (east & west) ?
Damon Bradshaw has the most SX wins without a championship. Has a bunch of MX wins too without a title, but K Dub has the most MX wins without a championship.
Blake Baggett
Josh Hansen
Mike Alessi
Marvin Musquin
Pit Row
Bradshaw by a country mile. Dude was winning sx races in the premier class at 17yrs old. And he was a total badass outdoors too. If you would have said Bradshaw would never win a premier class championship back in 1990, people would have told you to lay off the drugs.
One of the most solid to ever do it for many years..
Tim Ferry.
Scott Burnworth, who had the unfortunate fate of being born around the same time as Rick Johnson, Broc Glover, David Bailey, Mark Barnett, Jeff Ward, Bob Hannah, Ron Lechien, Johnny O'Show, etc.
Everyone is listing people with titles.
We are looking for the mount rushmore of no titles in either class (including 125/250f supercross titles). For me being a legitimate threat and winning races is important for this list, not being a long time journeyman top fiver.
Currently it looks like (post 2000s)
DV
Forkner
Seely
Alessi (borderline)
Who am i missing? Was Sipes a favourite and winning races and in contention? I always saw him as a podium threat occasionally
