Haha, Im old as hell now. So yes, much slowerrrrrrrrr than when i was young. The guys that i met last wkd at Silver Creek only have a short time on the bikes, so they are getting better each ride. DM me and ill get you my number to keep you updated if you want to stop by and ride sometime on wednesdays. I get home around 4:30 usually.
Owned by the city of Calgary who decided they needed it for a transit line/depot. Huge loss for us up here.

Not necessarily a great track these days (lost 1/3rd of the track to a property dispute), but just a great pic of raceday morning at my local club. Track doesnt always get a lot of attention, but when it does it can be pretty good.
It was a sad day for me when I was riding in those hills you speak of and a pick up truck with Texas plates pulled in on one of the fire roads up there . When he told me that the golf courses were going in, I knew that the dirt bikes were going out.
I've by far spun the most laps at South Fork Dirt Riders just outside Taylorville IL. First MX track I'd ever ridden starting in 03. First race there at the end of 04.
Nowadays if I'm riding, it's usually here if there's moisture in the ground. Midwest MX near Chandlerville IL. Turns out I really enjoy sand riding now

It's on my list to go to, lots of tracks in northern Illinois I've never been to.
Here’s some photos from the final practice at Tampa MX in November ‘24. This wasn’t the biggest track or anything, but they consistently changed the layout and it was always a fun place to zip around on a Saturday or Sunday morning. The dirt was like ice early on but it had a sweet spot for a few hours of being some of the best hardpack you could find in FL IMO. It was leased from East Bay Raceway park, a legendary Dirt Track that ran their final event the same weekend.
When my pops would take me, we’d go to the MX track from 9-2, load up and go grab lunch at this little bar on the river 5 minutes down the road, head to a car wash, wash the bike, and then head back to the same place and watch dirt car racing. I continued that tradition after my pops moved away with my buddies
On the last weekend, I camped at the dirt track, and walked over Saturday morning to watch practice at the MX track. I haven’t ridden in close to three years other than this one time. I ran into a longtime friend I did woods racing with who was there, and hung out in his pit. He was smoked 2 or 3 practices in, and offered me his bike and gear to ride. I paid my $25, hopped on his 450 and rode three practices until I couldn’t hold on anymore.
That place had a lot of memories to me. As a kid, it was the first place I ever sacked up and hit big jumps. I have videos my dad took and you can just hear him pumped behind the camera. It was also the first place I ever KO’d myself good. I spent nearly every Saturday night at the dirt track for the last two years up until it closed. Really a void that hasn’t been filled in many aspects.

Is Carlsbad going to reopen or was that just some fairytale gossip I read?
Fairytale. They never even finished the monument they were going to put above the old track. Man what that place could’ve been. They had a drag strip a motocross track an oval track a skatepark, and planes flying over all day so noise shouldn’t have mattered. I don’t get it. It’s nothing special now that’s for sure.
Was it a financial shutdown or a political one?
I thought I read that one of the older tracks in California may reopen.

This was a purse day and Johnny O’mara showed up on his white Mugan Honda. I managed to not get lapped by him but he was right on my ass at the checkers so I had to make one more lap on a terribly hot day. 😭
