Regardless of how you feel, whether youre riding on the deegans.. or if you think theyre total bozos, I think both sides can come together and admit that talking a bunch of shit on the internet and then turning off your comments is pussboy shit.

That's a completely different argument.

The criticism around Deegan is usually that he talks trash, creates drama, and isn't respectful enough. My point was that motocross has always had stars who did exactly that.

Now you're saying Hannah, Johnson, and Ward were allowed to do it because they really meant it, while Deegan is doing it for attention. Unless you're a mind reader, you have no idea whether that's true.

And even if it is true, so what?

If Deegan is saying things that get fans, media, riders, and entire message boards talking about him nonstop, then he's doing exactly what stars in the sport have always done.

What's funny is how thin-skinned fans have become. We constantly hear people on Vital and other places complain that racers today have no personality, everybody gives the same canned interviews, and nobody says anything interesting. Then the moment someone talks a little trash, half the motocross world acts like Deegan committed a felony.

The "really meant it" bit is false equivocation with authenticity. Friese and Jason lawrence are authentic. They're actual villains. They don't make excuses for what they do. They don't have to make up stories about their shortcomings to nurture their egos.

Saying there's deegan and everyone else is a false dichotomy. You can have personality and not be a fake sociopath.  Putting deegan on the level of Hannah or RJ is an insult to their manhood. When Hannah compliments decoster, you know he means it. When RC or deegan compliment someone, there's always some hidden condescension or patronizing tone, because they're so afraid of feeling less than (like a woman)

Calling people thin skinned because they call out poor character when they see it is rather disingenuous. There's a difference between being easily personally offended and disgust. Deegan falls into that uncanny valley of human behavior for a lot of folks and this triggers a response of disgust.

Just really disingenuous equivocation and semantic looseness all around on your part.

HAHAHAHA! Did you even read what you wrote? Let me help you understand the debate...

My argument is that motocross has always had polarizing personalities, trash talkers, villains, fan favorites, and riders people loved to hate. You listed some very good examples. That's my argument.

Many dislike Deegan's personality. That's exactly what polarizing athletes do, i.e., they create strong reactions. Some people love them, some people hate them BUT everyone talks about them.

Where you go off the rails is when you respond with an entire psychological profile of Deegan that boils down to essentially "I think he's fake."

Okay. That's your opinion.

But you're presenting subjective judgments as objective facts. You don't know what's in Deegan's head any more than I do. And that isn't my point at all anyway (go back to the first paragraph for a refresher)

"Putting Deegan on the level of Hannah or RJ is an insult to their manhood." That's not an argument. It's an emotional value judgment. That's fandom.

struck a nerve i guess. im saying that he can do whatever he wants but it comes across as pretty fake. alot of folks with similar social calibration feel the same. it's ok that you don't. the only fact i argued in that post was that There's a difference between being easily personally offended and disgust. everything else is implicitly subjective, but that's what we do here. it's ironic it triggers you but you want to criticize people for supposedly being triggered by your favorite rider.

Has the guy who posted that his feelings were hurt on page 10 calmed down yet?

Wonder if he got that from his preacher's last sermon? 🤔

Guess I'll have to wait for SX and when everyone is mad at him again so I can hear that message again. 😄

Sounds like someone who's a bit insecure and living vicariously through their child.

You should probably clean your own house first before you start judging others.  Brian's message is awesome because it's true.

Help me understand - it's true because people should go F off and "F you" if you don't want to be on his journey? If that's the pinnacle of his intellect, let me watch where I'm walking so I don't trip over it. 🙄

An observation isn't a judgement... and I can honestly and accurately say that I have never done or said things in public that drew the ire of others and then ran and hid behind a Bible... and then once the dust settled, went back to the previous behavior nor have I posted videos using profane langauge directed at people who dared to question or criticize my (or my family member's) decisions and actions.

I've got plenty of shortcomings, but I can't claim to have those on the list.

But let's not try to distract and deflect by questioning the virtue of the messenger - it doesn't change the validity of the statements and observations.

Your statements have no validity.  You seem to be saying that you have shortcomings, but your shortcomings are not Brian's.  When you say that, you are making a judgement, just as much as when you mockingly say, "spoken like a good Christian."  Last time I checked, there are no "good" Christians since according to the book of Romans, all have fallen short of the glory of God.  Paul leveled the playing field with that statement, so go clean your own house and mind your own business when it comes to the faith of others.

Continue to attack the messenger and not address the issue. Brian's above criticism (and don't criticize others) but I'm to be rebuked for pointing out his apparent hypocrisy.

Got it.

Still not clear on what "truth" he was speaking by telling everyone who dared to question him to F themselves. Then again, I am a bit of a dullard, so there's that... 😕

"Paul leveled the playing field with that statement, so go clean your own house and mind your own business when it comes to the faith of others."

The irony (hypocrisy?) is palpable.

 Physician, heal thyself.

Looks like this is done; have a good evening and take care.

Triggered? No. Amused? Absolutely. You spent multiple posts arguing against a position I never took.

My point was never that everyone should like Deegan. It was that motocross has always had polarizing personalities that generated strong reactions, and Deegan clearly fits that mold.

If your position is simply, "Deegan comes across as fake to me and a lot of other people," that's completely fair. That's a subjective opinion.

As for "favorite rider," that's another assumption. I enjoy the racing. In fact, my favorite rider of all time is Jean-Michel Bayle. If we're talking riding style alone, Jett Lawrence reminds me far more of JMB than Deegan does. The smoothness, efficiency, line selection, and ability to make difficult things look effortless are much closer to Bayle than the aggressive, in-your-face style Deegan brings.

I just find it funny that people spend pages explaining why they dislike Deegan while simultaneously proving how polarizing and relevant he is.

Why do some of you reference the bible like it's a gotcha moment? There are plenty of unhinged books out there, but the one you're talking about probably takes the cake.

Psalms 137:9   "Happy is the one who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks."

I hope we can all agree that that is NOT NICE. 😄

This sounds like The Church of Reddit.  You're probably religious toward your Alexa and dont even realize it.

I don't have Alexa. Lots of holes in your theory, as expected.

Was that before or after saying that he watches Andrew Tate videos to get motivated?

I realize this thread was created for the peanut gallery to laugh and point fingers when Haiden didn’t beat Jett.

But let’s get some reality in here and dial it back from: attacking his religion; his family; micro-picking every little thing he said. This is literally only his third or fourth 450 race. He is the only rider in the entire paddock right now actually stepping up to challenge Jett and Hunter instead of just settling for a podium. Love him or hate him, the kid’s raw confidence is exactly what this sport needs and probably what will be needed to beat Jett.

The guy has excelled in his first go on the 450. If someone asks "what could you do better" or "is this where you wanted to be", answering those questions is not tantamount to "excuses" they're called ANSWERS.

The juvenile nature of some of these posts and comments is embarrassing. It speaks poorly of the sport and especially the fans, so let's at least try to step it up about 10 - 20 notches. Stupid doesn't even begin to cover how bad some of this content is.

Deegan is badass and we're lucky to have him so what is peoples' issue? Continually amazed by the idiocracy on this forum.

I agree but the word “ challenge “ needs to be used very loosely…
