Chad Reed gets a lot of hate, but Two Two was legit. Biggest names in the sport were on the team and they were beating the factory guys on a privateer bike, 2012 he was arguably the fastest guy indoors and out until Chadapault & Houston (was it Houston where he crashed battling villlo?) Honda took notice and started giving factory parts, but it’s a cool story.

Steve did a great article on Racer X about the team, awesome read.

Chadapult 2011 Outdoors, Houston 2012 SX, but yeah Reedy put his money where his mouth was and built the bike he wanted, proof was in the pudding.

They should call Sexton, I heard he's looking for a new team.

This has been floating around since about 2/3 of the way through Supercross. If it does happen, I’d have to guess it won’t be until 2028. No one is really available for next season.

Pretty cool if it did happen. I guess MJ needs to burn some cash

2311 is an extension of Joe Gibbs Racing, so there some connection to SX/Motocross. Be cool to MJ put together a team.😎

Book of HEP (and 23XI), start building the infrastructure before going after top talent (both riders and technicians). If a rider like Barcia is the odd man out of Ducati, it's a good opportunity to get started and get exposure. If Kawi management crumbles, perhaps Chad can pull some of his old crew back over.

They have a technical alliance (think Tedder leasing factory KTM parts), but I don't believe there is any ownership/extension with JGR. I was able to visit the 23XI shop two weeks ago, it's an unbelievable facility. I'd say they have room to squeeze a few bikes in there...23xi

Sexton?

Can you imagine MJ talking to him after one of his episodes? Keir would get knocked out and Chase would look like a scared dog

Call me a nostalgic 90s fanboy, but MJ is still maybe the coolest athlete of all time and I will support absolutely any venture he has in our sport.

I’m not sure about all the legal technicalities . I’m just meaning the Denny drives for Gibbs and is parters with Jordan. It’s a Toyota team and they share information and use JGR engines. That’s cool you got to go to their facilities.

2 things:

  1. Incredibly cool experience, would love to see a shop like that in person some day.
  2. How much does the Gibbs family want back into MX/how much did any person outside of Coy (may he RIP) care that much about moto?

From what I gather, it really only was Coy who cared about moto, I don't recall any other members of the Gibbs family other than joe occasionally attending a SX event or two that were that into the sport.

It sounded like Coy's wife and son (Heather and Ty) were interested in getting back into moto when the Ducati/Triumph/etc teams were looking for suitors to start a US based team (Pulp rumors, maybe reported by other outlets). I'm sure there would be some interest from that group if the right opportunity presented itself and sponsorship was attainable. If they can raise the money to hire the people to run it (I'm sure Jbone would come back in a heartbeat) at a sustainable level, I don't see why they wouldn't.

I'd rather see MJ/Chad get something going just from a competitiveness and disruption standpoint. Both of those guys would be unable to settle for anything less than winning, and both would challenge the establishment to hopefully get better financial conditions for the teams/riders.

Orrrr... maybe MJ gets stonewalled by FELD/MXSports and decides to take WSX to the top. lol

MJ has been an agent of change in NASCAR - lawsuit outcome as an example.

What would the dynamics be then if this happened for the AMA, Feld, and other power brokers?

Food for thought...

I heard the same thing. I did not hear the Kdub part but don't doubt it to be true.

Believe it when I see it. I don’t see Michael doing something that does not make money. Motocross race team might be the worst business model out there.

Sexton should drop the #4 and go back to 23, get on the Reed and MJ team and run  either leased Honda's or Husky's.   He's said hes an MJ fan and that was why he had #23.

Or in the ultimate twist, MJ brings Feld/MX sports to court to allow electrics in and they become the official Stark factory team in the US. Talk about disrupting and changing the sport. That would be wild.  Battery tech might be getting there for a 30+2 moto in the next few years IF the rumors of solid-state and the performance claimed are close to true. They could run SX main events  with the batteries they can build right now.  I know it's more of a fantasy.

The branding that both MJ and Reed have done with past projects would be exciting to see them together. They would have some cool looking stuff!

KDub has a hell of a facility so could be where they train? Who knows but that would be cool Mississippi probably isn't the best central location wise for travel but not crazy.

Well, MJ receives over 250 mil per year just from Nike. So yes, he has plenty O'dollars to throw about.

Keeping in mind the billons Nike makes from the affiliation....
