I was talking to someone a few days ago about this. The KROC was so cool.
They should do it again. 125cc only.
Make it all 112cc. Carson Brown just took his shirt off
Was it initially on Yamahas for a couple years? I thought I remembered seeing that way back when I was a kid, but I may have gotten it confused with something else.
Pretty sure it started on Yamaha in the late 70's at Saddleback, then moved to Vegas World Mini weekend and Kawasaki in the early 80's.
I assume the team riders must have written into their contracts that they could compete, otherwise no way (at least in todays world) would the OEM's be ok letting their riders race another brand.
But it was awesome while it lasted, the best 80cc riders in the USA racing identical stock 80cc bikes. I think it was a 3 moto format and they switched bikes between motos.

Yes, original was YROC. I was hoping for an invite in 1977. Didn’t happen.
They already do it in Europe...
Those kids are all Yamaha sponsored riders, though. The YROC/KROC was all the top kids no matter what brand they rode for.
I definitely remember that race. I think it was 1983 that Paul Denis won over the likes of Mouse McCoy, Mike Healey, Eddie Hicks and Larry Brooks.
Bring back,ABC’s Wide World of Sports, “SUPERBIKERS”!
Lets nor forget Bruce Bunch, Rick Hemme and Kyke Fleming (RIP) to them all. Awesome NMA event, the original World Mini Gran Prix ROC.
Wasn't there an RM80 Cup at Las Vegas or Mesquite in the late 90's?
Edit: i found what I was thinking of. The RM125 Cup, Pastranas last amateur race

When and why did supermoto die out in the usa?
Mismanagement, fracturing, disalignment....all the same reasons riding areas and mx tracks close. Of course horse riders, mnt bikes, hikers, ATV, Snowmobilers, and UTVs get more trails and money all the time....they organize, advocate, and cooperate amongst themselves. Yet supermoto is so much cooler.

Submitted pics in this thread are awesome.
Well, Yamaha sponsors the class.
I daresay some of the riders may be sponsored Yamaha riders, but, the majority, I think, are paying customers.
It's very common concept for a racing 'class'. One make race / series, with, often, a 'buy in' for the series.
Sometimes you get ownership of the bikes after the series, sometimes, you don't. And, often, a Series / Class clothing deal.
We've the Yamaha 150 and 300 race classes here in OZ for Road Racing - extending for many of the events into Asia / Oceana.
It's pretty neat to see in the pits a whole bunch of youngsters, in a huge, fancy pit area, many coming from OS.
Though, it does make some of us Old Bastards go : where was this when we were Young? The Green Eyed Monster, basically.
A few years ago, before the Blue Crew classes, in the GPs, there was the Honda 150R class. What was a hilarious , and you could see a fair amount of embarrassment, from some receivers, when being presented the "Manufacturers Trophy' after the racers had got theirs. Yup, a 'Manufacturers Trophy, for a one make class........ 😁
No sir. Jeff Ward was a factory Honda mini bike guy who raced the ROC on a YZ80C (1976). His Dad, Jack, even put a JWRP sticker over a Yamaha patch on the jersey. There are pics, but I’m too lazy to find them. I believe some other XR guys raced it, as well.
The 85cc class is still all on the same bike.
But, yes it would be cool in the 250 class.
That's what I said (The YROC/KROC was all the top kids no matter what brand they rode for). The video L2S posted is all Yamaha sponsored kids, which is still pretty cool, but nowhere near as cool as the old YROC/KROC.
I think what he was trying to point out was that there are likely no riders in the class who receive any substantial support from any other manufacturer, so a lot of the top talents that would otherwise be in the class are not racing it. The ‘old’ Race of Champions had riders who received support from other manufacturers who were ‘allowed’ to race a Yamaha or later a Kawasaki just for that unique event.
With the marketing machinery in place today, those opportunities are likely long gone and an almost zero chance that they will return.
