Imma not clickn on chit... cliff notes anymore?
Fuck off dude that’s just uncalled for. Tony is one of us.
No cliff notes for you
Agree! But what would you change about the track? I thought the prep looked the best I've seen it. More water would have given the soil more strength but I liked not watching rutcross. I liked the flow of it compared to previous versions. I do think the track should allow for more passing opportunities somehow. Plus the first turn is way too narrow.
WMX was the best racing of the day. The 450 class had some great battles around p5 to 10 with RJ, Ferrandis, and Marchbanks. And yesterday was the biggest turnout ever.

hangtown has always been notoriously narrow except for a few pockets that open, but never long enough to make good options, every straight that opens up speed ends up in a tight corner that are super tight or into fast 90degree turns with no real passing room.
as to the dirt, I would argue the older hard pack was better for racing vs adding sand and rice hulls which make it closer to redbud.
Mr. GT80, if in fact , you don’t know of Tony, I’m gonna have to assume you are not that involved in SX/MX.
That start & first turn sweeping chicane looks downright scary. It seems like it's claimed a lot of riders over the years with the speed being carried into the narrow bend. Maybe it's just an issue at the National with full gates? I've never been to the place and just watch every year on tv, perhaps others who have raced local/regional/pro events there could chime in?
all the racers complain about it as being a one-line track (the good ones)......it obviously needs a redesign
The first turn has gotten more challenging since they made essentially a 180 with the second turn switching back 180 again. For a while, until at least 2016, it was a 90 left, 90 right that bypassed that switchback. Still fast, but maybe less problematic. Example from 2006.
The Prairie City track used to be really wide when they started running there in the late 70's, but it was run on the native service (rock hard hard pack) was not prepped the way it is now. Given how much material they have brought in to make the dirt more loamy it may be challenging to pile that in to a significantly wider track. They certainly have some much more one lined layouts in the past; this was about average for how it's been.
If you prefer to read, here are my "Cliff Notes" on Hangtown.
If Jett and Hunter start out front. Every race for the lead will probably be boring. ( And they start out front 90% of the time)
Hangtown has had some great racing the last few years. This year the person who holeshot just checked out every moto. It happens.
it's kind of a crappy one-line track....the riders all talked about it after the race
The layout was WAYYY better last year, the minor changes this year made a huge difference. The first corner seemed like more of a hard turn instead of a sweeping corner like last year (and ‘24 too I believe?), I’m guessing that was to slow the riders down. Also the new version of the section after the hip jump was horrible. I liked how it went further down the hill last year and had the jump out of the corner, it made for much better racing. This year was pretty one lined.
I don’t get why they feel the need to change the layout from year to year. Find what provides good racing and run it.
It's "Cliff's" notes...
