Chase sexton ghost ride bike in kawi pits hitting Marchbanks

6/8/2026 9:00am

So is Chase the rider Kris Keefer talks about who can't/won't put his bike on the stand? It's plausible...eh?

Maybe Garrets mechanic pulled a prank and put Sextons milkcrate in the team rig and didn't let Marchbanks in on the joke? It's plausible...eh?

😁

I think this is just Chase playing into Kawasaki's secret marketing strategy for being the brand occupying the most bandwidth on the Vital forums. Between the various two-stroke threads, and this, is any other brand even close?

That would be Prado.

I bet the team will find something in his locker and be forced to respond.

Yea framing someone as a cheater and taking away their career seems rational

If I’m Kawi I’m not letting Chase out of the deal yet. I’d clean out upper management of the race team and try again. They need new voices and a different approach.

We’ve seen two elite riders be nowhere near their capabilities and consistency. Fool me once.. fool me twice.

Yes Garrett is doing well, right around where he was on the club 450. I don’t put much weight in what he’s doing comparatively.

Think of how bad a look that is for a second elite rider wanting out of his Factory Kawi deal? Who's going to want to ride for them in the future? Yeah, RJ or Malcolm would sign with them in a second. But I'm talking getting a Jett, Hunter, Deegan, even a prospect like Davies would probably give it pause.

The evolution of the sport leaves some riders behind a spot or two each year.

He won two supercross races this year

Bingo

How bad can the bike be if you win SX races?

It is a bad look but high paying factory rides are hard to come by. Someone will always be willing to take the paycheck.

And that is why both Dan and Bruce have to go…they have allowed this team to be a dysfunctional mess with everyone pointing fingers at everyone…They are the ones that should be held accountable for this dumpster fire of a team…Is Chase difficult to deal with, apparently yes, but these to morans have made the team the laughing stock of the paddock….

They should get rid of nearly everyone associated with running the team and bike development.

The optics of Prado dropping out of his deal and Chase maybe following his lead are so bad! They can't win. We all agree Chase is a flake but Kawi still comes out looking bad

Not an insider, and I maybe wrong, but I feel like the opinion of Chase burning bridges isn't 100% accurate. Yes, he's been somewhat critical of his bikes but I felt like him leaving Honda had more to do with the Lawrence's moving into the premier class than the bike. In fact I thought Honda made him an offer for 2024. KTM had some shock and brake issues with multiple riders calling it out but leaving had more to do with personalities clashing between Chase and some team members. This Kawasak thing seems to be the status quo, due to their history with riders and bike set up issues dating back to Weimer. I'm not condoning ghost riding his bike at all but  I'm just questioning what bridges he's actually burned. With premier titles at both Honda and KTM I find it hard to image they wouldn't rehire him if they needed riders. The problem is that they are full for the foreseeable future. Maybe a Husky deal on his own?

It's also been reported that he left both teams in basically Irish Goodbye fashion, no thanks, no handshakes. Just peaced at the last race and they never heard from him again. Is that a crime? No, but it shows a lack of maturity and is kind of odd.

That's not a bad idea. The Sextons can take the Team 22 route and start their own team on rented Husky's

He left honda when jett smoked him and he said it was because the front of the bike kept knifing causing him to crash, lol.

Between the Chase situation and Kawasaki's reliability issues with Stew Baylor in GNCC they have had a rough couple years.

Stew seemed pretty frustrated after yesterdays race, he was last off the line with the bike not starting and having no clutch for almost the whole race. Reading between the lines in his interview it sounds like he is relying on some guys on the OEM side to help with these issues and it isn't happening.

That being said he got 3rd and his brother won the race on the same bike.

Interview at 3:38:16 mark

I feel like Chase on Suzuki would probably be the best option for him. The platform doesn't change, so assuming he can find a setting he likes, he can just copy paste each year and take the bike out of the equation. A Chase that's focused solely on racing and not the bike would be amazing for these title fights.

Didn't predict a ghost ride....    Mid week, no photo/video practice injury should have him "banged up" in the very near future...

I really don't get it. how does his clutch go to the bar off the start for 3 years? Clutches really are not that complicated.

Far from it. Kiers has been an issue since the am  geico days and before but when your winning its tolerated more. I know way to many first hand accounts over the last 10 years. An theres some wild stories to coming from guys in the teams. One of those guys use to live with me.

Chase is a good guy always been cool to bullshit with same wit  kiers. Nice guy. Need to seperate personal from professional though. Let me be clear if you think his lil petty temper tantrum selling the ktm kyb suspension publicly was the worst of it your far off. He a more tolerable Tony Alessi with less bike knowledge. Chase would benefit from getting away from his dad at this point. It might not fix everything but I think a fresh start would do him good. But it will never happen and we saw that writing on the wall in his amateur days.

Give this a listen and form your own opinion, from April 24, 2024.

Kawasaki needs to turn the team over to Pro Circuit. Mitch will get the team on track.
