Looking to pick up a new Austrian 250 2-stroke very soon. I was strongly leaning towards the KTM for the standard suspension setup. I’m 6’ and don’t need shorter. I also like the feel of my past Huskies over the KTM (bars, bodywork, etc).

I have a KTM 350 which now has Husky suspension. I switched due to short legs. I did not notice a significant change in suspension performance when I switched. The different valving/settings was likely a bigger difference than the travel. The Husky suspension still has a normal amount of travel. It’s the same as a Yamaha 450 in the rear and only .2” less in front. I think you’d have to ride the two suspension setups back to back with the same settings to discern a difference.
If I didn’t want it shorter in order to touch the ground I’d probably just leave it. If there is any negative in performance, I don’t notice it, but it might feel a tiny bit better in the corners. The setup will be more significant than the travel.

I ride a 24 300SX with husky shock, pull rod and knuckle, revalved and sprung for my weight and speed (slow). I also run the KTM power parts low seat. I like this seat a lot because it’s only slightly lower and it’s flat/squared off just right. Even my friend who is about 4-5” taller than me commented on how much he liked my setup. I think new bikes are overly tall. My bike now feels like the bikes I rode when I was younger. I’m 40. I’m 5’5” and another buddy who is 6’ tall rode my bike and he loved it. I didn’t even tell him about my Husky suspension or seat.

My son really liked the Husky lower suspension on his KTM 125. It turned really well and he felt it to be more stable and planted. He did move to regular height suspension later on another 125 and his 250s. The short 125 went to a 5' 6" female rider and she loves it too.

I have had several KTM and Husky. I like the husky tringle better and lower suspension helps the bike turn better.

I don’t know fully what it is, but like you said I along with some of my friends just simply prefer the feel of the Husky over the KTM, even before they lowered the suspension. I’ve had both and even had them in my garage simultaneously and anyone who says they are the same with different plastic is lying to themselves lol. Just are a lot different. I prefer the Husky feel, but prefer the KTM looks.

6’ vet B. I always preferred the lowered husky. Love my 25 FC350

Thanks for the replies, gents.  After looking at the spec sheets, the TC250 appears to have 5 mm less travel up front and 7 mm less travel in the rear, and a ground clearance of 8mm less than the KTM.  So, all told that's not that much.  Probably not as much of a deal as some outlets make.  I also read that the KTM has stiffer valving than the Husqvarna.  As long as it isn't off-road soft, it should be fine for me.

Maybe not a deal breaker after all.  I don't mind re-valving down the road if I need to anyways.

I rode my previous '19 KTM 450 and buddy's '19 Husky 450 back-to-back, and his Husky felt better also.  Part that I've noticed is where you grip the bike with your legs, but can't figure out what else.

I have a '21 FE350, and '25 FX 350. On the '25, I find the seat height is just a little lower in relation to my knees. It doesn't seem like it would be much, but I find it noticeably easier to grip the bike with my knees on the '25.

5'11 rider.

Prefer the Husky ride height over the KTM stock v stock. Buddy has a KTM 350 and I had a 450 and now a 350 Husky. It's not a huge difference, but I do like the slightly lower bike. Even with similar suspension settings.

Dang this is helping. Can anyone of you confirm this for me?

Every 23 or newer Ktm/Gasgas I’ve ridden i immediately feel comfortable and sitting on them rolling to the track I already can feel the rear feels high/front low feeling and not a bad way. Just feels like it wants to turn and then it does.

Does the husky have the same balance front to rear feeling that I feel on the Ktm and Gasgas?

Found a husky local for a steal but with how comfy I’ve been on each Ktm and Gasgas I’m hesitant to try a husky just to save money and then miss that whole comfort I’ve been feeling.

Sounds like by many of you I won’t miss anything though.

I have a 24 KTM 450 and a 23 KTM 125XC. Both handle great and I like this platform better than the older gen.

My impression is the Husky has the same balance, but sits a bit lower.

I spent two days a Cahuilla Creek riding almost every Husky/KTM 4 stroke model back to back plus the 300SX.
I'm 6'0, I couldn't really feel a difference on the bikes. If anything, my favourite bike was the 2026 FC450 out of all of them.
Reading about the height online made me want a KTM but I would gladly take any of them. Whoever is the best dealer or the best deal on the bike, or your favourite colour, buy that Smile

Being short I appreciated the lower seat height of my '24 tx300. Even though it was maybe an inch, I shaved the seat and Icould get my tip toes to the ground🙂. Suspension was just fine out of the box for me. I'm a intermediate level woods rider 180 pounds. I think you will be fine either way. Preferable color maybe?🙂

Did you notice a big difference in valving? KTM really fast rebound in rear but softer to compensate?

My understanding is that the shock is the same, but the linkage is slightly different. The link arm is a little longer on the Husky to lower the rear. I don't recall if the knuckle is different, though I think it is different. I can look tonight. Have both.

I didn't notice a difference.
I'm assuming all the bikes were set to stock but no idea what the clickers were.

I can't say Cahuilla vet/main are the best tracks to compare all the bikes but I still feel confident I wouldn't be able to tell a difference.

I could also be a shit test rider 😅

The Husky XC/Enduro bikes have normal height suspension. The seats are a few mm lower to the pegs than the KTM though.

The husky air box smooths the power out a little vs the KTM. I think the Husky lower suspension changes direction easier than the Gasgas/KTM. I had an FC250 that seemed to wear me out less than an MC250f when riding XC races.
