He looked a ton better this week, much more aggressive than the last 2 weeks, looks like they are working out the problems they had.

He was going to the left in that second set of whoops so he could swing wide and do the next section in a two jump sequence instead of singleing then double double. Sure looked like he would hit a kicker about two thirds of the way through those whoops every lap.

It was amazing how much faster Stewart was through the whoops than everyone else on the track. I would say that everyone but stewart needs to practice the whoops.

I think the racing would have been alot closer if Dungey had more speed in the whoops. I think thats about the only place he was losing time. Stewart made up about 4 bike lengths in that one section.

RV is my fav rider, but I would like to see JS, RD, CR and TC all do well and continue to battle. It was cool to see all the bike brands running up front as well.

As much as I want RV to win, I really want to see close, bar to bar racing.
Hopefully last night was a sign of good things to come.

Looked like a setup issue to me....... entry speed was fine.

They're getting it sorted out, his bike looks better each week. He's going to win some of these soon.

James just seems to have the best corner speed. RV's aggresion keeps him in there and he actually seems to put down the most consistant laps. RD seemed to have a little trouble on the back rhythm section along 3rd base line coming out of the corner. He seemed to be a little short on the step on/off jump for a few laps. Overall he seemed to be a little inconsistent.

Barring new suspension components for Goose to tinker with/get dialed in...what are the major differences to get sorted out? I mean, is it not basically the same type terrain? Have they not encountered the same style SX tracks from last season(which they are)? I'm sure they keep a lot of set up notes.

I know Goose is one of the best in the biz at set up...this is kind of strange to me.
Somebody help me here...

RV is starting to ride like his 250f less 20lb days! He was backinit into a few corners like the good old days. When he's comforrable and in shape he reminds me a little of RC as far as his heart goes.

My thoughts too. Did they change the componetry or chassis that much from last year? I'm thinking there are three new variables to factor in, and they aren't on his bike.

I agree. Just saw the race and Dungey looked very dodgy towards the last 1/3 in the second set of whoops. A couple of times he'd get a little hop/endo thing going and it didn't look intentional. Villipoto and Stewart looked the best through the whoops. No surprise there.

If I'm really going to nit pick, I think Dungey lacked a little corner speed too.

In the 90 degree corner before the 2nd triple he looked good but when Villy slung round it, he looked noticeably faster to me. But as I said it's nit picking really. However it's unfortunately where these fractions of a second are won and lost. He just need's a little, a fraction more everywhere and he'll be holding his own.

But overall great ride for RD. He's my Dad's favourite and my 2nd favourite, so I hope he can win soon.

I think Stewart's bike is setup stiffer in the forks wich helps him, but you can't deny he is a monster in the whoops. I don't think Stewart could hug the inside through the start straight corner as good as Villopoto did in the beginning of the race.

x2 - Stiffer Suspension. I think it makes his set-up not as good in the corners but much better in the whoops. If he can get it to corner a little better, so he can be more aggressive, he'll be unstoppable.

Dungey's bike was all over the place in the whoops, he almost bought it a couple of times. The fact that he stayed as close to the leaders as he did was amazing.

RV was dialed in the whoops. James was faster in that first section, but RV was squaring off and hitting the inside line on the second section. It looked like he was on rails.

Stewart used to run his forks so stiff that they wouldn't even move just riding through the pits but he said recently that he is running a little more neutral set up this year.

This is how i saw it also as far as Dungey goes, it was damn good he could stay in the battle at all considering how he was in the whoops!
I think RV looked even better than bubba in the whoops at least when ever the camera was on him. The kawi went through those things flat and straight as if there were no bumps at all. I bet the screwlooski boys will be putting in lots of hrs this week testing..

Did you see Stewart scrub the triple so hard he flew about 5 feet lower than Dungey? Yeah, it's not just the whoops.

But it does beg the question, is it the bike or a decision sort of thing? RV and Stewart have both washed out the front end and in '06 I remember Stewart kept washing out the front and RC said something to the effect of James running his forks too stiff to carry more speed through the jumps, but he was giving up cornering speed.

Maybe RD is just being more conservative in his setup to guarantee he doesn't throw it away where the other two are set up more on the ragged edge of traction. Who knows, great series so far either way.

That stiffer fork set-up for Stewart does help in the whoops but it pushes in the corners. May be why he went down. Take here give there.

I know he got some extra days in last week, and they've been doing their suspension homework.

As for Roger, and the new team personnel, I asked Ryan that last week, and he was emphatic that it's a non-issue.
