Apparently I suck at Google because I could not get an answer. So correct my memory but was RC two motos shy of perfect seasons for three years?

Yes, went 2-1 at Southwick and Unadilla.

I don't know what you guys think but didn't he seem a little bit relieved after the streak ended?

IMG 8900I know that it doesn’t quite count, but Stewart winning every moto he raced of the 125 Nationals in 2003 was pretty damned good too. He missed the first 4 races with injury, came back and won all 14 motos he entered, and only finished 30 points behind Langston for the title.

I saw Ricky ride many times.  It was never pretty but was always unbelievable.  Can't say I ever saw anyone like him.

All his motocross stats are amazing. He won every premiere class title 2000-2006. He started 84 nationals and won 73 of them. Meaning in 6 years there was only 11 times someone else won, that’s insane 😂

Ricky was pure strength, willpower and aggression. There was no real flow or smoothness, he was the opposite of a guy like KDub..

Nothing but respect, Ricky had a singleminded goal, and he reached it.

And then the next year he won every single race he finished, all but one SX and 23 of 24 motos.

Not three years in a row. Perfect season in 2002, then in 2003 Windham broke his streak. Windham won Washougal and Unadilla. Then perfect season in 2004, every overall in 2005 as mentioned, and then in 2006 Stewart won the first round at Hangtown, and won Washougal and Glen Helen too.

I was at Washougal in ‘03 as a kid and it was a good race. I think RC got stung in the face by a bee in one of the motos?

Wasn’t it 03 on the Honda?

Not 05 on the Suzuki.

I was always told that was an excuse 😂 but I’m too young to remember it with my own eyes

I agree!! When this topic comes up, I always think that even though RC was so dominant, he didn't have the competition that there is now or in the mid to late 80's. However, the eye test still tells you it doesn't matter. He is the best ever and would have dominated in any era. Legend

No, in 03 Ricky lost overalls to Windham. In 05 he didn't lose any overalls. He lost a moto to Reed at Southwick and he lost a moto at Unadilla when he and James came together.
