Whatever happened to climate change catastrophe?

I remember the "O-Zone layer will be gone and we'll all die" BS back when I was a kid in the 90's. Then they shut up about it after it "healed itself". Then Al Gore after that telling everyone he invented the internet and then complaining we're all gonna be flooded in 10 years. Well, 25 years have passed and still no one on the coasts are under water and the banks are still giving out those expensive ocean-front home loans.

Please tell me that you understand that the ozone layer didn't simply 'heal itself' while we kept pumping the same amounts of CFCs into the atmosphere.  Huge, worldwide regulations were implemented in order to reduce the amount of emissions that affect the ozone layer.

please tell me that you understand that everything the man said is factually CORRECT. You can applaud the reduction in CFCs, but you shouldn't ignore the avalanche of other information that opposes your worldview.

What happened to the climate change catastrophe?

Well, it's real and here in California. Sacramento has successfully driven Phillips66 as well as Valero  out of the State. Chevron, the states biggest refiner, just moved it's headquarters, which has been here for 150 years or so, to Houston. If they also decide to shutter their refineries like Phillips and Valero, gas may easily go up to $10/gal. Newsome panicked and pretty much begged the oil companies to stay and every one of them basically said fuck you,  There is a plan in the works to reverse some pipelines and supply refined products to Arizona from Texas. That would relieve some of the burden on the remaining refineries here which supply most of the refined products to AZ.They have no refineries. All of this is the doing of the one party rule her and driven by climate change.

There is no question that the California democrats are absolutely the biggest enemy of blue collar Californians and their standard of living. What  the big question is: when will the fucking morons in this state figure it out and quit voting these people in? And will it be in time?

Goddam, this is great The air is so clear I can see Mt Wilson from here. From my dumpster that is.

Glad you have a view. My dumpster is on fire and I can't see for the smoke.

Oh yeah, and FUCK Gavin Newsom.

I am still waiting for the Ice Age we were promised in the 70's.

Using banks and mortgages as evidence when they drove us straight into the housing cross for giving out loans they shouldn’t have is an odd choice.

The o-zone before and after the Mt Pinatubo eruption

A good read. Not too nerdy and you actually know someone who supported the research stated there-in with a specially configured version of one of these…(ER 2)

Oh, and, that same research was “waved off” by a certain senator come VP. You see, he accepted all the data that gave him his soap-box of doom-n-gloom…

(From Time magazine…1992…but the data came from the previous few years of our flts and other projects that had taken hold since the Montreal Protocol)

“If any doubters remain, their ranks dwindled last week. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration, along with scientists from several institutions, announced startling findings from atmospheric studies done by a modified spyplane and an orbiting satellite. As the two craft crossed the northern skies last month, they discovered record-high concentrations of chlorine monoxide (ClO), a chemical by-product of the chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) known to be the chief agents of ozone destruction.”

As I said, Al LOVED the doom-n-gloom…but, he wouldn’t even review the data from the flights that gave us the Pinatubo revelation. Funny how that works, isn’t it? 🤣

I’m not seeing where that paper challenges the role of CFCs in ozone depletion. What specifically in it do you think contradicts the need for (or the effectiveness of) the CFC bans?

I’m speaking to the ozone’s resilience…that’s all. The Mt Pinitubo event reaches into the subject and explains it.

NASA was all over this subject and it made for some awesome projects and hardware. I’m more into the hardware than most. 🤣

I was sent over to Ames from just across the airfield to help out when it was time to fit an airframe with something ridiculous. It’s my speciality (that’s a lie. I simply had the most awesome crew of troublemakers). It was nice, hell, it was quite interesting…to see how the NASA folks did things versus the naval sea & air folks I usually worked with. Different worlds. Oh, and, Ames is home of a notoriously awesome wind tunnel. Good times. We tore some shit up and made some awesome birds. The XV15 was another one of those Ames tales. But, that’s another story.,

So just to be clear, are you claiming the ozone would have recovered the same way if CFC emissions had never been reduced?

No. It’s just a great paper addressing what we LEARNED about the ozone at a critical time in all of this.

Those of us that have been beaten over the head with these “papers” since our teens know that time and the accumulation of data contributes to the evolution of actual knowledge; therefore, just read the paper. It’s actually pretty damn good and doesn’t require ANY implied contrarianisms or the like; which, it seems to me you’re wanting to find.

Why can’t you just read what someone puts down, namely a study based on one of the most significant “ozone events” in modern history. Do you want to argue with the authors of this paper? 🤣

Dude, it doesn’t go against your basic premise and gives a good well documented look into how the ozone (should we be saying,”ozones”?) behave and have their own processes. That’s all.

Read it. It’s not too “down the rabbit hole” and is one of the more practical papers available.

Note: and this almost sounds like a riddle…this paper gets into the different ozone zones and layers…and their behaviors around the globe. I’d read many papers leading up to this and this one seems so clean and well defined compared to most others. Since Montreal, there’s been ALL SORTS of papers. Reviewing real “unfiltered” data based findings from folks I’ve worked with is refreshing. Actually, back when these papers surfaced…we were stoked to be a part of something that stuck to the science. The late 80s into the 90s… a really fun time at the crossroads of atmospheric science and aerospace & it yielded some great “thought” and gave us some amazing projects.

Got it — I wasn’t looking for contrarianism, just clarity. Since you’re not arguing the ozone would’ve recovered without CFC cuts, then we’re aligned. That was the only point I was making.

Tapped out and got sucked back

Working in shenzen, 100km visibility. Locals mock photos of blue sky. Fake. Nuclear plants pumping waste into rivers. Corruption rules. Can’t eat the food. Endemic cancer.

Plastics in the food chain?

Made up like everything else... see, we live in a fear based society... fear makes us more docile and more willing to accept their rule.... just what we deserve for allowing moloch worshipping pedo cannibals to lead the world...

The latest finding by scientists have determined that it will take a dollar for each year of the Earth’s age to save us from extinction. Amazingly a new scientist consensus determined the age of the Earth is now dated in the Trillions as their earlier studies were not validated by the authentic scientific community. They’ve also decided that if they can get a dollar for each year of the Earth’s age that they would be able to accurately spend the money  to “maybe” save us from deadly climate extinction.
