I'm not saying the tire was a good choice. But he got a bad start and was behind Sexton till he went down. Sexton was almost on the podium. The track didn't allow someone to push hard enough to rip through the field. I don't think his rear tire made him was the front under braking. He fell and basically rode around after that, like he has done many times in the past.

Just stop. A guy with the second most wins of all time doesn't need to have excuses made for him when he's had these results the last month

Tomac feels worse about the last three races than any of us.

Whatever is going on and whatever happens I hope it doesn't cause him to call it a career prematurely. He has had the opposite of what I expected on the KTM - early season wins and late season slump - but he is still considered a threat in every race and championship.

"prematurely" ??  He should have retired two years ago. I agree he can be a threat in a single race but anymore championships are a bit far fetched.

Should have is a stretch. If he did he would have had an amazing career. How his year started this year was nothing short of amazing. He did have a tendency the last few years to accept being off the pace and taking a 4-7 but something has to be going on behind the scenes.

How did you know that he’s been testing this back in CO?

Sexton was ahead of Justin Cooper and six seconds up on Tomac when Tomac went down. This race was definitely an indication of progress for better or worse for both Chase and Eli as they did start close together. Chase was around 23 seconds behind the leader at when Eli crashed and he was 12 seconds behind, challenging for third at the end of the race.

Because the red plate holder had a bad race anymore championships are “far-fetched”?

Sadly this was Tomac and Roczens last chance at a championship. They both blew it today. Barring a crazy mud race where 96 gets stuck in the mud or grenades his bike. Championship over.

Eli Tomac: “What a day – the whole day was good, other than the Main Event result! I was comfortable with my setup all day, so I’m just frustrated not only with the bad gate selection – I should have avoided the inside on the start – but also the crash. That bad start really put me in a tough spot from the get-go and I had my work cut out for me trying to make passes on such a slick, tight track. I lost a bunch of points today, but all I can do at this point is ride my best at the remaining rounds and let the chips fall where they may."

It’s almost like someone is getting paid off to lose it’s so bad. How do you have these results after the first 9 rounds?

Appears mostly self-inflicted which is tragic. His story will always include all of the many championships that should have been his. I hate that for Eli.

Hell of a career- the little man in our brain telling us to take less risk is getting louder. As soon as he’s uncomfortable he shuts it down. The start was  practice a few weeks ago, he scared himself and didn’t crash hasn’t been the same since

People have such a short memory, it wasn't very long ago that Eli was the original head case.

Was he running this scoop on the back also?

If 96 wins the title, are idiots going to say “but he never had any competition”?

It's probably the cable clutch slipping.

mathematically its over for eli and basically over for kenny...eli would have to win out and have hunter get no better than 3rd and his wins would give him the points tie breaker.  kenny has to win out the last 4 rounds too.  thanks for the memories guys but hunter just needs to ride this in for the final kill.

that's a classic desert sand paddle tire. Doesn't match what I have seen described as "scoop" tire for Moto.

1 DNS or DNF for Hunter closing out the season would flip everything again. Not saying it will happen, but not unheard of in this sport.
