So if Deegan wins in St Louis and Antsie finishes 6th or worse it is over in the West. Kitchen is 48 points back so even second does not keep him in it. Deegan would be 51 points up with 2 races left. While this was a questionable ruling it changes nothing.

He broke the rule and got penalized. It doesn’t really matter if it was on purpose or not or by an inch or a foot. Own it and take the one position penalty and move on. If you want to complain about the penalty not fitting the crime go watch Ironman moto 1 last year.

Yep so called golden boy Jett getting penalized a whole lap for touching the gate at Ironman which gained him the disadvantage of a back of the pack start.

Deegan's was fair. If it wasn't a rule ,switching lanes would be a no brainer.

AMA took their time handing this one out. Overdue... Track limits are track limits. Lets hope they stay consistent and enforce it in outdoors

When I watched the race today I expected to see him go inside to inside…. Not miss one freakin track marker…. Not sure what happened with the AMA yesterday but they seemed to be trying to prove a point or something.

A track marker is considerably different from a split lane marker. 

You can't just say oh you can skip the first few split markers, but the rest... " Come on, a rule is a rule.

And yes, I consider Chad's published statement to be silly as well. Almost like he's trying for Deegan family brownie points.

I don’t like deegan at all….and the rule should be followed and penalties applied…but where the hell was this by the book mentality during the red light/jumping a Red Cross flag??? Where riders actually did gain an advantage, and disadvantage….and no one has asked why the hell are there even track markers before either turn starts.  As you saw with Deegan, no advantage was gained.  The obvious gain would be changing lanes after the first turn….so wtf were there markers there???  …and before someone says so they have to commit…..I would say….or it would be like the rest of the track where you can flow!  This was stupid from the second they put track markers before the first turn in the split lane.

You know the result of a penalty is bad when 2/4 tv people that were on the broadcast are mad about it, and one of those two loves to talk about jett whenever he can when jett is racing.

The continuation of the AMA being a fkng joke continues. How did Deegan gain an anadvantage? He didn't. He had the field covered. It's not like he split it mid way through the turn.
