Also bikes are way too expensive. New 450 $10K? Add in exhaust, graphics, suspension, plus expensive gear, travel, entry fees. 

To- 20 in 450 SX should make 200K year. Top 20 in 250 SX should make 100K. Not breaking even to make a main event is laughable.

Perhaps a canary in the coal mine -

This past weekend Pacwest Series announced at the racers meeting , 20 minutes before the races began, after many in attendance had driven 3-6 hours to be there, that they would be running a one moto format , due to their 645 entries and 34 classes.  My kids 85 race was 5 laps , his supermini race was 6 laps.   So about 10-12 minutes. 
They still finished racing at around 6 pm , just before dark.  

It was great to see the wonderful turnout and quality fields , but it was like in one fell swoop they offered half the product for the same money , no partial refunds .    I sure hope this doesn’t become the new norm.
