I watched the RacerX press conference a few hours ago and noticed when James did the step on step off right before the big triple, he wheelied across the tabletop portion of it.

Anybody else catch that?

If not, check out the RacerX website...

Also, it showed Windham going through the rhythm section just like James. He's got it down! On a side note, i hope we don't see any serious injuries through that section. It looks awfully dangerous.
And he did on one of those bikes with the funny pipe on the front......lol.

Seriously he isn't gonna win the race by wheeling a tabletop. its also funny how he says "I'm isn't in it for the money" yet he refuses to race MX and even turned down team USA in the Des Nations.
the one thing i like about James is that he races at 100% and isn't scared of crashing.

That wasn't really TP it was James in a TP outfit. Everybody knows James is the only one that can manual, just ask anybody here.

Funny how some people see something James does.....and they think he invented the fucking thing. What in the living hell are you guys talking about? James landed on a table , dropped the hammer and wheelie'd it off the damn thing? I've seen tons of riders do that shit.....go watch some films of KW for a while , and you'll see him do some things that would make your jaw drop. Just because you don't see many people do it......doesn't mean it's hard if you know what you are doing.

As far as that goes....Regis was right on the money. And YES "P" he should know!

I'm with fro on this. Many pro riders do this. Nothing new.

And it's a wheelie when it's under power. A manual is someone coasting on the back wheel, meaning not using power be it pedals or engine. When did we start calling wheelies manuals?
Thanks for the upgrade to my vocabulary. I was about to ask WTF is a manual.

In other news, some have just figured out that Stewart has skill? As if wheelie-ing across a tabletop is the most ridiculous thing we will see these guys do?

I once saw a JoJo wheelie, I don't think James invented that either.....regardless of which way his front wheel was leaning.

James is amazing and will still do thing no one else could but I would say the whole main will be doing that most laps. It was a cool manual over section but i would say most kids that race in legit B class or above has been pinned over sections and never had thier front wheel touch the ground, even over nasty rythem sections. It just happens when you are pinned unaware most of the time. I know lots of you hit a corner and then a roller section or something then a corner and your front tire never touches the ground from corner to corner. It happens all day long at most tracks. I can hardly keep my front wheel ever on the ground and I am old. Grow a pair.Cool

I wonder if manualling will become the new way to shave a few 1/10ths of seconds off a lap time similar to what the scrub has done.

At the mxdn, Paulin was fastest through the waves section that only he was manualing. Maybe track designers could take this on board and mx/sx could somehow take something from bmx.

Maybe on an outdoor track but please don't give Dirt Wurx any more ideas to lower the already to low lap times. They need to be finding ways to slow the track down. A racers job is to figure out how to make it faster. All Dirt Wurx has done it catered to the new style by adding faster sections. Remember when step on/offs used to have little lips on them and they were significantly taller? Taking that off only speeds up the lap.

Actually Kong.....I'm pulling for James a little more now than I ever have. Don't get me wrong , I've ALWAYS loved watching that guy race , because he's really fun to watch. What I didn't like about him , was the carelessness he showed some times around other riders.....and truth be told , he's been involved in some pretty stupid fucking wrecks that not only took himself out....but other riders. More than anyone I can remember seeing over the years.

BUT.....this year , I'm really starting to kind of dig the guy because of what he has said in interviews , that funny little video he had made and the press conference. He's witty and funny to me.....and I really dig the guys attitude this year.

I'm sorry, sir, but your opinion is bullshit. He jumped onto a table top, rode a wheelie, and leaped over step off section completely off his back wheel. There's no way I can comprehend what that is like on a motorcycle, but I rode bmx professionally, and even duplicating that on a bmx style section would be difficult.

If James didn't land and ride that wheelie perfectly, his front end could have started to drop, and nosed dive right between the tabletop and step off, missing the table top entirely. Had that happened, he probably would have been sent flying over the bars.

it's a big fucking deal!
Like I said... its about having throttle control, which you don't have on a bicycle so its really no comparison.

Im not trying to discredit you, its just honestly not quite as sensational as you and others in this thread are making out. Its nothing new and its not even that hard - really!

Exactly Jamma! I think you'll notice a trend of things like this to come this season from people that really never raced at all or that much. and that aint taking anything away from Stewart.....As i wish I could do 1/4 of the things that guy was capable of doing on a bike.....and i'm not just talking about going fast.

Not a manual.

the power of a four stroke is no joke. You used to have to use ever bit of rebound and horsepower timed perfectly to get over that type of obstacle just a few years ago. Now, they wheelie off it.

evolution I guess. But I think SX was harder and more dangerous a few years ago. It was more "do or die" back then.

Can't wait for tomorrow night, good eye Hank_Thrill!

P,

just for a second.... get off James' jock and re read what I said and try to understand. Jeez man, I think he is the most gifted, most talented rider on the face of the earth, I never said he "wasn't the man"

I would never have done it, especially on a 125cc two stroke. I would just pray I would make it over the next hump lap after lap, hoping to god I caught third gear and made the triple that usually followed this particular obstacle. I sucked really.... But plenty of others have done it. Especially now, with this obstacle that has been around for ears and the tractor power of a four-stroke

maybe we should declare james the winner because he WHEELIED off a table top and cleared the next jump in a rythm section on press day. I'm cool with that, It would help my fantasy picks Blink

Look, it was cool looking, but I have seen James do stuff in the past that WAS WAY MORE IMPRESSIVE THAN THAT. But it was impressive, and a good catch by Hank_thrill
Maybe you should read what I said again. I simply said that I doubt that you have seen anyone do that before, not like that.

It's funny how dudes always throw in "there are plenty of guys that can do" or "I think I saw", but they never provide details and you never really see those other dudes doing that stuff, not when getting ready for a race.

Either way, it's race night so enjoy A1. We can battle it out later.
