Hunter beat Deegan by nearly 60 points in a half series of SX.

Hunter beat him by nearly 50 points in the MX series.


Deegan was insanely impressive in his rookie season and has definitely improved out of sight since. But Hunter comfortably had him covered for speed on a less powerful bike back then. Though with both riders improving since you can’t really draw any conclusions from that.

Hunter needs to figure out Kenny sooner. Kenny is super crafty in the opening laps. If he gets by Kenny sooner then Eli gets to deal with Kenny for a couple laps and maybe Hunter gets away. It all still makes for really great racing and seeing Eli make history is icing on the cake.

Hunter accidentally did Kenny wrong a few weeks ago, he probably feels some remorse.

Let's not forget Jett spent a summer living and training with Heiko, Ken's dad, while Hunter was racing. I think Heiko even bought them a van so they could get Hunter to the races. That doesn't mean Ken gets a free pass, but at least some caution and respect.

As much as I dislike Deegan and this weird shit, I think most of that talk really is just for the camera and entertainment. I remember a Gypsy interview where Deegan only praised Hunter, saying "he has to learn from the best" while racing him. Hunter is obviously really smart and knew to not take any of this stuff serious.
