Look Sexton isn’t doing great so far, his starts are off which isn’t helping either.
But has anyone thought about the number of BIG crashes he’s had for years now and the toll they have to have taken?
He’s had highlight reel slams year after year since what 2020?
Eventually Stew stopped being Stew after so many of those hits. They add up.
I’m not saying he’ll never be “back” but they certainly have dulled the blade.
Jett as well, you only get to “bounce” back from so many massive injuries before you start to lose the edge.
I’m not saying for either of them they’re done as of now, but if they keep having highlight reel slams and months off the bike each year, it’s not good.
To chase's credit he hasn’t missed a ton of time, but he’s still had big hits.
You have a point, dude
don't know all his documented injury history, but I've been amazed at how many big get offs he's had and still pops right back up instead of getting removed by EMTs. Bendable buddy with great flexibility and seems to be in shape. The main thing from other collision sports like football is concussions. Those are cumulative and can be career enders more than limbs with fractures and torn ligaments. tendons, etc.
big picture wise , cause I love doing these perspectives on my ufc videos but say hypothetically this trend with both chase & Jett continues to happen , it really opens the door for deegs to come in & steal alotta titles & the spotlight from the both chase & Jett
Who knows right? In 2007 it was pretty much a no brainer that stew would win the next 10 years worth of races uncontested.

When Stew said "It's all about the record books now" I think he jinxed himself.....
Forkner too.
I had the exact same thought as you with Chase. I think Dungey is a great example of the other way around, how he was able to stay so healthy gained him a lot.
I mean he's had some big crashes but the only injuries I remember him having is a concussion outdoors and I think a small shoulder injury at SMX finals.
Tomac, Jett, and Hunter have all had more injuries than him over the past 3 years.
Forkner is probably the best example. That guy was on his way to a very, verty good career but just couldn't stay on 2 wheels and had too many big injuries.
Same with AC.
Deegan fans are strange lol Here’s a thread about chase and Jett, let me go talk about haiden, fuckin weirdos
He’s had more than just one concussion. Remember how many times he lawn darted on the Honda head first in sx? i think he missed a couple rounds outdoors in 23? He missed some rounds outdoors last year also. He had that crash in sx where Webb landed on him. He got loose in the sand section in sx on the Honda and went face first into the next obstacle: he’s had several serious hits and missed rounds multiple times.
I'm kinda worried with Jett. We have him obviously see him come back at 2024 SMX after missing outdoors and then 2025 outdoors after missing SX and immediately go back to dominating both times and both times with only limited time on the bike. I still don't understand how he made a recovery from a torn ACL in like 3 months. That is some alien shit.
But foot injuries like that are no joke. Herlings had two nasty incidents in 2019 that injured the same foot, similar ankle/foot injury like Jett. He needed almost two years to come back to his old consistent speed. I think he also said in an interview back then that he had to completely give up on jogging for example.
I hope Jett gets back to 100%, but I'm not really sure if we see the old one back immediately. It might take some time and I really hope he doesn't reinjure the same foot anytime soon.
And for Sexton.. Yes, he is a tank. The amount of hard hits he had it's almost a miracle that he was really only out twice over the last years. Though the scariest one for sure was the SMX crash last year where he pretty much slammed into a small jump.
"Massive injuries" for Jett? His recent injury can be a difficult recovery going by what some have said on this forum. I dont know much about it so I'm just going by firsthand experience from guys in here. Other than that, what are his massive injuries? An ACL? We see recovery from ACL's so quickly now. Its hardly the career hindrance it used to be
I don't think that's the case with Sexton, but I have wondered how many more times Jett can comeback and still be peak Jett.
*Didn't mean to quote the Forkner replies
Do you remember his endo into the face of a take off on 250s he missed months following that one? Or missing months with a thumb injury was it? Then his acl? And now his ankle is it?
To be fair I started this specifically for Chase and said “potentially” Jett. I think they’re both starting to flirt with that limit that’s all. Like I said, Stew was Stew until he wasn’t any longer. You can’t take too many hits and miss too many months before the edge gets dulled.
"i used to absolutely fuckin WAD it up all the time, i still do, but i used to, too" - Chase "Tim Geiger" Sexton
Deegan so far has been incredibly consistent and injury free, that's for sure. He had some big get offs aswell (Hangtown or RedBud where he landed on another bike for example) and was always able to roll it off.
But the 450 class at the top is different. I said it another time already, I think the sport has reached a level and speed the past years where pretty much every single mistake among the top guys results in big get offs and injuries. Racing the 250 class where you're better than everyone else is completely different than having to race Jett, Tomac, Sexton, Hunter or Prado for example at the highest level and speed. He won't win titles if he's slower than any of them and going as fast as the top group will bring a lot of risks with it, that's how I see it.
Totally agree with this post. People hate it when I post that Jett has elite speed but he is a crasher, meaning he rides too far past his limits pushing the edge. But I hope these guys back it down slightly so they can be great for a long time.
Pit Row
It doesn't actually made sense how Forkner came back from every single injury year after year to winning speed immediately, that's such a tough MF. Though I think the brain surgery sealed the deal, which is completely understandable. It's insane to me that he's still out there. For absolutely no money in the world would I go through the injury list of Forkner or Herlings.
😂😂 I have a picture of what I look like with the rider ima fan of in my avatar joint , calling me a deegs fan is like calling me a Baltimore ravens fan even tho I like Lamar
yea your right but I’m looking at it in the same light I do in my ufc videos with the current crop of fighters progressing in their weight classes & following tht philosophy to moto , deegs would be the ilia topuria to chase & Jett’s volk and max Holloway, just on a hypothetical look into the future , if shit continues the same path of chase not on his A game because of he don’t kno how to setup a bike or Jett continues to get hurt & not always able to complete a full SX season or out for outdoors , then it allows somebody thts the new hot commodity like deegs to come in & steal some of the shine away , it’s always goona be like a repeated sports evolution cycle of the current crop with who’s available & then the new generation crop capitalizing & taking advantage of the moment thts presented to them
The comparison for Jett seems more to be RV, who missed several outdoor seasons with orthopedic injuries. That sort of injury seems different from multiple head knocks over time.
And then he broke his neck, fortunately no long term impairment, and understandably went into his first retirement.
You have a point. But, you also gotta look at guys like Kenny. He may not be human. From all those hard hits and surgeries the guy looks like he never broke a bone and has no fear of hitting the ground. Unreal.
Something semi unique about both Chase and Jett... They both typically look like they are just cruising when they are absolutely flying. In complete control, until that split second when they aren't and it all goes awry. Unlike someone like Anderson on occasion where you can tell he is on the edge and you wonder when it's going to "happen".
I hope both are just as good for the next 5 years+ as they have been in the last 5...
I've been saying similar things for years about Jett, and now Haiden. You can only go so fast for so long, eventually you'll hit the ground hard enough that makes you start to questions things. It may be little things, like "oh, last time I was here I did that and I had a crash and blew out my knee, shoulder, hard hit to the head, etc". Those little things or lessons we learn shape us as we grow up, and sometime literally alter the way our body works, AC9, KR94...
We as people cannot always be as robust and TP199.
It happened to me, skateboarding, dirt bikes, etc.
I truly hope this isn't the case for Chase because I really think his ceiling is quite high and he can be such an artist on the bike, similar to Jett.
I can’t imagine going their pace day in and out. Not to mention the practice crashes or close calls.
Yeah I think he broke his collarbone on that endo. I wasnt disagreeing he's gotten injured. You used the term massive injuries. I wouldn't call a broken collarbone massive. Look your point is taken. Whether these injuries are massive or minor, they're certainly adding up and costing him championships. He's missing out on half the 450 titles he should be competing for. It makes it all the more impressive that guys like RC and Dunge really competed without injuries.
Perhaps you haven't heard, he's only riding at 80%. 😂 That's the one I like. Because his style is so smooth he's not on the edge
there's an interview video on here posted last couple days with Jett answering question about his injury. Might have been under heading of "Jett not returning for SX" or something like that. He went into exact detail about everything that was severely damaged in his ankle. He's not making a quick miracle recovery like he did with the ACL
