This is not mistakes or bad judgement by the officers. This chaos and violence is part of their mission. They want to be feared, to make people stay at home whenever and whereever they're roaming the streets. This will come in handy for midterm elections. Mark my words: ICE will be around certain polling locations to stop people from voting.

People cry about comparisons to the Nazis, but how can you not with everything thats happening right now. Bovino is literally cosplaying a third reich offizier. They will become the Gestapo of this administration.

People on the other side are making literally the exact opposite argument, that dems want chaos and protestors being shot so they can villainize ICE and Trump and stop immigration enforcement.

Both sides saying the other side wants this is probably a big part of why we have this, but hilarious to hear both sides saying the same thing with such confidence.

Not too many of the people terrorized by the gestapo got together to go chase the gestapo around while they were doing gestapo things as part of their weekend entertainment.

Only one side has institutional power, controls escalation. Only one side has guns, legal immunity status, decides about use of force and writes the report afterwards.

“they want protesters shot so they can villainize ICE/Trump” assumes coordination which there is no evidence for, although i would be impossible to hide such a level of coordination. Also would require people willing to die for the optics. You don

I'm not judging the merits of either argument, I'm pointing out that both sides are making the same argument with the same confidence that they are right. To those of us that stand somewhere in the middle, both sides sound ridiculous.

And no, it doesn't require people willing to die for the sake of optics, it only takes people who are easily manipulated by people who make a career out of inciting division and outrage. The people stoking the flames aren't actually showing up to blow whistles in cops faces, they're finding a microphone and fundraising off of it. If they gave a shit at all about the dead people they'd try to calm their side down too, but instead they just keep screeching about the other side from a safe distance.

Haven’t been wanting to comment on what’s going on in Minnesota, but here is my two cents. I’ve been in Law Enforcement for over 8 years now. My credentials include firearms instructor, field training officer, and I will be in my department’s SWAT selection process in two months. Local law enforcement operates differently from the federal level. Every agency, local and federal, has different levels of training and it varies with how often they get it. I can only comment on how my department operates, and we are always training. It never stops for us, which is one of the main reasons I work where I do.

I do not know anything about how ICE trains or how long their process is, but regardless, it is messy right now. If it is true the process is expedited to only be 8 weeks, that is not nearly enough time, in my opinion, for the responsibilities involved in being in any sort of career in law enforcement.

As far as this shooting, I honestly can’t defend it. Not good at all in my opinion. My guess is that there was a miscommunication or communication break down with the agents that caused that to happen, but we will find out more details as this comes out. Going to be hard to gather that totality of all circumstances because emotions are running very high currently.

It just seems that many of these ICE agents aren’t properly trained. If they’re only receiving 8 weeks, that’s not enough. Especially if they don’t have previous experience using firearms.

They receive 47 days of training... because Trump is the 47th president. I wish I was making that up.

It will be interesting to read the mental gymnastics that some members here continue to exercise as they can't quite come to grips with how things are going down these days.

Argument is basically “stay home on the couch and you’ll be safe” ya?

Do you ride?

“Yes, I consciously put myself in a dangerous scenario because my beliefs have me believing that the benefits are worth the risk”.

Same goes for someone who wants to go to a protest. To act like these people don’t know they are putting themselves at risk is…something.

And just like when you ride, there is an assumption that certain rules, regulations, safety measures, CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS, etc. are in play.

Whether or not that is a reasonable assumption is certainly up for debate.

What’s not up for debate is when you land on a tractor, there is not “room for everyone to be wrong”, especially when the argument for the rider being wrong is they didn’t stay home that day.

Getting jumped, disarmed, killed, then pumped full of lead by militarized agents of chaos while filming in a public street is the protest equivalent of landing on a tractor, at minimum.

Since when did executing protesters become acceptable?

I thought that was the first amendment?

I very much hope the 8 weeks of training thing is not true but if it is that's all the more reason to stay home and not put yourself in a situation where their incompetence might get you killed.

I wouldn't get on a plane with a pilot with 8 weeks of training and clamor on about having a right to fly.

It is true.
47 days training is the current requirement for deportment agents. It’s an expedited program.
If you already have LEO experience some of that training can be skipped. I made a post about it earlier.

75 billion dollar budget and a vest and mask make up the uniform?

Did the Gestapo pick up a Columbia sponsorship?

Pic gives cartel/terrorist vibes eh?

Law enforcement must ALWAYS be the voice of reason during a crisis. ICE’s fundamental mission is not crowd control, yet that’s exactly what they’re tasked with. But when leadership adopts a “shoot first, ask questions later” mentality, this is the result.

My wife is a ER nurse, I had had tons of stitches myself. Not once did a regular nurse do it. A nurse practitioner wouldn’t either generally. The nurse will clean, grab supplies and do all the other stuff as the Dr or possibly Nurse practictioner(rare because weird sport for them to be in ER.  Regular nurses don’t have insurance that covers them under hospital rules.

might want to look at that

I don’t think RN’s do unless they have advanced training and have a doctor or surgeons approval and supervision.
I know OR nurses can close up in surgery.
But that’s an OR not an ER.
The ER I went to, which is further out than my local very busy hospital have NP’s on staff because there is a doctor shortage. Every shift has one NP to work alongside the normal two ER docs.
That day only one doctor came to work.

If you want to go with the riding comparison, a better one would be putting minis on same track with big bikes. Everyone still rides with all those same expectations of safety and the mini had just as much right to be there as anyone, but when the pro on a 450 lands on the preschooler and kills them it's fair to say it was pretty stupid to put the kid out there regardless of what the rules allowed or what level of riding would be expected from the pro.

As to the second part, if the people encouraging the protesting cared about the cause more than the political theater they would not be encouraging interference with law enforcement. Period. As soon as the goals are to interfere and prevent things from happening, you are no longer protesting and you don't get those same benefits and protections. Labeling behavior as protesting doesn't excuse any and all behavior that then takes place. It's really not that complicated. You don't even have a right to block a road. People really struggle to understand this but that's largely because the agitators who are in fact sitting at home on their couch want it that way.

I think the sheer force of the impact just ripped it open. I never went down. Rode another 20 feet and put my bike down. Looked at my glove and saw the red spreading quickly. That pic I posted was about 30 seconds after I got off the bike and pulled the glove.  Was a weird one for sure.

Happy to see NRA making a statement. As I mentioned earlier, this one needs to go to court to get the facts out there.

Curious to hear what the law enforcement pros have to say about taking the gun off the guy to begin with. Isn't the goal usually to cuff the guy and control the person before you start trying to pull a gun out of their holster?

For the record, I'm not defending the shooter and don't believe I have. They're going to hang him for it unless there's some second gun or something wild we know nothing about yet. But if the only thing at all you manage to take away from this is ICE BAD then you're missing out on a lot and we'll keep piling up bodies at "protests"

I live in a city that still has an abandoned downtown and hasn't really recovered from protests here five years ago. Nothing was accomplished. There were no winners. Lot of losers though.

ICE may not be bad, but its leadership certainly is. When unqualified sycophants are placed in positions with the power of violence, this is what you get.
