Just curious how other riders handle this.
Do you usually:
- Run one graphics kit for a full season?
- Change graphics every year?
- Swap styles when you change bikes?
Stick to one look (factory / retro / custom) or mix it up?
What is your riding level or type of riding (racing vs weekend / trails)?
Would be cool to hear how different riders approach graphics thing.
I know, I know that many of you prefer blank plastics.
Thanks in advance (;
I go stock with just numbers.
I'd rather spend $$$ on tires, chains, tires, grips, tires, oil, gas, food, tires. I change graphics when they wear out. Sometimes change looks/sponsors, sometimes not.
I thought I was the only one, lol. I have like 13 dirt bikes, so graphics get expensive! I will admit, I have a couple bikes with number plate graphics, but most just have numbers...like these.

We do ours every winter when the bikes are torn apart. We kill our graphics pretty good with our legs by the end of the season and it’s a nice change doing something different every spring. Like having a new bike without dropping the $ on a new bike!

15ish hours but i only run radiator guards and number plates… i use decal works and design something myself and run it, if i want to change it up i can right on the website.
I usually do mine every season so roughly 60 hours, they are usually pretty haggered by then and I have probably broken a piece of plastic by then as well but as long as they wear holes in the graphics instead of peeling up I'm fine with that. Racing off-road is extra hard on graphics.
I usually go with an OEM style look on the shrouds and just numbers, I dont need all the fake sponsors on the fenders.
- Run one graphics kit for a full season? Yes, I will usually run the same graphics for a full year. They're basically shredded at that point.
- Change graphics every year? Yes, I'll update them when they're shredded with a slightly different look.
- Swap styles when you change bikes? Yes, I will select a set of graphics that aligns with the brand I'm riding
- Stick to one look (factory / retro / custom) or mix it up? Always similar style -- generally a plain/factory-modified look.
- What is your riding level or type of riding (racing vs weekend / trails)? I race Vet B offroad a few times a year, but most of my 50 hrs of annual seat time are riding in the wood with my buddies.
Here are graphics on the last few bikes:

I used to be fresh plastics and graphics every season. I stopped crashing as much and I'm currently going into the third season on this set
I have gone through several graphics philosophies as my racing involvement has changed. When I was in my early days, I wanted my bike to look as much like a factory bike as possible. I would probably only choose whatever graphics the team ran, and almost always ran the same sponsor logos and products. During the middle point of my career (my fast days,) I would run my shop's race team graphics and add my personal sponsors as appropriate. Now I'm more like the Falcon of old; I just want my bike to look like Cooper Webb's, except with my number. However, I don't stick exclusively to the sponsors of the team; I'll modify the logos to match my choices. I carry loyalty over to some of the brands that helped me in my sponsored days and I want them to succeed, even though I don't get anything from them now.
From a changeup perspective, I used to run one set per season. But then again, I had a new bike every season as well, so I didn't change them very much. When I started a family and couldn't race as much or afford a new bike, I changed graphics every few years to freshen it up a little.
Had one set that was really thin and destroyed them quickly. Thats when I discovered there was different thicknesses and a clear layer applied over top as the final step.
The thicker the better.
These days I do it once a year... 40-60 hours and they're pretty beat at that point. All in with plastics it gets expensive, so I try to go as long as possible.
I run the factory shroud graphics, Yamaha's inlaid graphics are great! On the numbers I run full backgrounds and only change them when I break the plastic. Last year at one race I broke one side cover in practice and then the other one during the race, freaking weird day! The last race of the year I broke my front number plate by hitting a tree, so my bikes got fairly new numbers on it now. I did splurge and get a full custom graphics kit and numbers installed on plastic for my sons crf110... I don't think I could justify spending that much very often, luckily the DeCal Works graphics seem to be durable.
After running full number graphics the last couple of years I think I'll always run at least a background on the number plates. The graphic vinyl doesn't scratch up or get the white marks like the bare plastic. Gotta get new numbers ordered for the new bike!
I've never changed them. The stock ones have always lasted me and slapping some numbers on is easy enough.
Every couple seasons or whenever I’m ready for a different look. Look pro go slow!

Just whenever i scratch and rip them all to hell.
I want mine to be as fast as Cooper Webbs bike but there seems to be a disconnect somewhere, can’t seem to make it happen.
There are several companies that have supported me and my kids racing over the years and I've worked for a few of them too. Plus we are in the ministry through FCA Motocross. So always showing them all some love. I went with all black and white graphics this year.
Other than numbers I quit putting stickers on my bike decades ago

Anyone answering this thread is automatically barred from complaining about the cost of moto forever more.
Go for stock look and run them as long as I can. Motosport has inexpensive $40 backgrounds (shown on the KTMs) that I run. Only custom set was when I won a rival ink set during 12 days of Xmas here, my wife was going through cancer treatments so I added a tribute to her fight on those.

Thanks to all who responded 🤟
I typically only do the number plates and rear fender because I destroy shroud area graphics too quick and it becomes costly.
I do new plastics and graphics every winter. I'm just a weekend warrior that does the local series, but I do get some support from Acerbis and Decal Works. If I didn't, I'd probably do every other year depending on how bad the plastics and graphics were.
I only do it every 2 years, unless I change sponsors or the plastics get really worn out
I do new plastics and graphics about every year. I like the stock KTM shroud graphics so I stick with those. For the number plates there is a SKDA design I like so I always replace them with the same ones.
Post a reply to: How often do you guys change your graphics, and do you switch styles over the time?
