Is it really worth it to be out there considering the fracture of his scap? It shows toughness but, for what? Could there be something in a contract?

Because he’s a professional athlete competing for money and championship points and he was obviously cleared to race by his medical advisors.

Agreed. These guys keep coming back from injury too soon and then that leads to another injury. For sure impressed by his grit, but not sure that’s worth his health, especially since he’s not a young buck fighting to keep his ride

I get that mindset but, it seems the team would want him at 100% and not risking another crash that could end up worse.

I think it’s awesome he is, you cannot question his heart.

As an aside, I do think it’s a contract year

It’s moto. You get knocked out one weekend, you’re back racing the next weekend or maybe the same night. Different breed.

It’s like they say you have to be in it to win it.  Plus depending on his deal he is racing to keep his job.

The same reason Tomac raced with a broken leg.  You put all that work in during the offseason for this. If you can race and grit it out, that’s exactly what you do.

Considering the amount of guys that are dreaming of a top 10 finish in the 450 class… I’d say yeah, it’s worth it.

Why are any of these guys racing?

Hats off to Mookie. He is a factory rider that gets paid to race for his job.

I’m kinda wondering if he didn’t do it just to get back on the horse. A crash like that has to dick with your mind, so it almost seems like it makes more sense to get back out there and put it behind you, rather than dwell on it for weeks on end while waiting to be 100% again.

Would you rather have NFL players that need to goto the sideline after a 7 sec play?

Always somebody ready to disparage other athletes because they’re not dirt bike riders. 🤦🏼‍♂️

We don't know the full extend of his "fractured" scapula. A fractured scapula isn't all that big of a deal so long as it's not displaced. Safe to assume he has a minor, non-displaced fracture of the scapula. That could mean a whole host of things but it's obviously not a severe fracture.

There are thousands of other, more concerning injuries one could be suffering from, like a concussion.

Don’t these points count towards the end of the year races where they can make the most?

A fractured scapula isn't a huge deal, the wing part of your scapula doesn't do anything but protect your ribs on your back.

A partial fracture is more dealing with a bit of the pain, I broke mine totally in half and I had no stability or anything but a partial break of the wing is not risking any kind of worse injury.

Exactly its early season round 2 and he haven’t thrown in the towel and is still a contender.
